Iggy Pop and drummer Ginger Baker of Cream do a faithful rendition of the Black Keys' 'Lonely Boy.'

Last week The Flaming Lips made news when they released the very NSFW video for The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face, the band's collaborative track with Erykah Badu from their Record Store Day exclusive Heady Fwends. The clip, which features a scantily clad Badu and her sister Nayrock, who appears completely naked, didn't sit too well with the neo-soul singer. Yesterday, Badu posted a rather scathing open letter to Wayne Coyne, who directed the video which has since been taken down. Erkyah's letter takes shots at the Flaming Lips front [...]

The Black Keys [...]
Taylor Hawkins is Iggy Pop New RHCP singles this year Beck releases two new singles Jack White tour dates Neil Young and Crazy Horse tour dates Johnny Depp jams with The Black Keys

While Johnny Depp playing with The Black Keys is pretty cool , this cover of "Lonely Boy" from the legendary Iggy Pop and very insane Ginger Baker is far more interesting. Stripped of it's distortion and bass fueled heft, "Lonely Boy" takes on a lounge-rock kind of vibe. Imagine it as a laid back jam for Iggy to croon along with while he writhes around on stage. An interesting, if not a little too familiar, take on a great song. MP3 [...]

Stereogum Usually, younger bands are supposed to pay tribute to older, legendary, seminal-type bands, often by covering their songs on tribute albums. That's just how it works. But in an inversion of the formula, Iggy Pop and Cream/Blind Faith drummer Ginger Baker have teamed up to record an exceedingly faithful cover of the Black Keys' still-kinda-new single " Lonely Boy ." The track will appear on a new tribute album called Black On Blues , in which blues veterans take on Black Keys songs. Download the Iggy/Ginger [...]

On July 17, Cleopatra Records is releasing Black On Blues , an all-star tribute to The Black Keys featuring artists from all genres of music. Iggy Pop, Ginger Baker, Albert Lee , and Doug Kershaw are just some of the contributors. Hailing from Akron, Ohio, The Black Keys is Dan Auerbach (guitars and vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums). As part of the heavily blues-based garage rock revival, the duo has sold millions of records in its decade [...]

While the members of The Black Keys are both busy touring with their solo projects this fall, the Akron-based act did manage to make their way into the recording studio this summer for an interesting collaborative project they've dubbed Blakroc . The duo, who are known for their fuzzy blues-rock, have teamed up with an all-star roster from the world of hip hop that includes Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Pharoahe Monch and Ludacris. The results will be heard on the collective's self-titled debut , which hits stores on November 27. [...]

For hypem clickers, etc. you can get Part One here . (Reuters) After getting out of the incredibly squished South Stage (Lil' Wayne, don't be late for your own concert!) it was time to see Iggy Pop and the Stooges. Soon, I discovered: Iggy Pop is insane, and a total queen. Somehow, listening to his albums growing up, I never picked up on this. With lyrics like "shake appeal / is so hot and low / hot and low baby/ hot [...]

Last weekend, ( Jason and) I decided that Day 2 of Virgin Festival was worth my $90-something dollars, due to the amazing convergence of Andrew Bird, Martin Dosh, Zooey Deschanel, M. Ward, The Go! Team, The Black Keys, Iggy Pop and Bob Dylan at the same place. I'm not sure I'd do it again (Pitchfork is starting to get pretty high on my agenda for next summer), but it was still a good time. (photo courtesy of DaveGolden ) The day began with The Go! [...]
