The night that we lost Levon Helm , the great singer/drummer for the Band, Bon Iver played tribute by covering the Band's "Ophelia." One night after that, in their headlining spot at the second Coachella weekend, the Black Keys paid a grand-scale tribute of their own. Inviting former Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman and classic-rock archduke John Fogerty to the stage, the band covered the almighty Helm-sung Band song " The Weight ." Watch a fan-made video of the performance below. (The camera starts out sideways, but it doesn't stay that way, so don't worry.) Read [...]
Following the sad passing of Levon Helm last week the music industry has paid tribute in a number of ways and this weekend The Black Keys paid tribute in the best way they could, a cover of The Band's classic track, "The Weight". They were joined by John Fogerty during their weekend 2 Coachella set and the result is a touching cover of the track. Enjoy the results at the top via CoS .
This was one of the best moments of Coachella's Friday night. The Black Keys made mention of the recently deceased Levon Helm while on stage. After a quick "rest in peace," they brought out Creedence Clearwater Revival's John Fogerty to cover The Band's classic "The Weight." Great performance and a great tribute.

Chef Anthony Bourdain featured the Black Keys in a segment on the newest airing of his show "No Reservations." The last time we saw Bourdain with a musician , he was chilling with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and friends. This time around, Bourdain would enjoy some fine barbecue with the boys from Akron as they discussed working crappy jobs in kitchen, touring and more. Watch the video below: ...

Gotye and Kimbra both showed up on Saturday Night Live handling the musical duties for Josh Brolin. The first thing that came to mind when watching Brolin as host is that this guy was the punk brother from "the Goonies." Crazy. While on the east coast, Gotye checked in with David Dye from World Cafe for a four track session that you can check out over here . Keep in mind that this US media blitz had Gotye travel back to Coachella for his Sunday show. I never understood the allure behind watching festivals [...]

Like others that have gone before them, the Black Keys are the latest musicians to appear on Tony Bourdain's No Reservations . In the clip, the Keys "kidnap" Tony and head to KC's Woodyard BBQ , which isn't too far from one of Tony's other favorite spots , Oklahoma Joe's. Watch it at the Travel Channel .
Anthony Bourdain acts like he's stumbling around after drinking bourbon, when a van-which looks a lot like the van on the Black Keys El Camino cover, throws him inside. There we find the duo who decide to pull off later...

Probabile. [...]

These guys. Earlier this year, The Black Keys ' drummer Patrick Carney called Nickelback "shit," and expressed how disappointed he was that a band like that was representing rock music to the mainstream. Then the bro from Nickelback responded , and it started to look like this may turn into all out rock beef. The Black Keys sat down with MTV and issued an apology, but it may just end up fanning the flame. "I didn't mean to single them out, actually," explains Carney. "It just kind of came out. There's much worse bands [...]
On the last episode of this stirring drama, the Black Key's called out Nickelback, saying that their music was "watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit" while generally expressing dismay at the modern establishment of "rock and roll." But recently, MTV News asked the Black Keys if they were music snobs and Carney immediately starts talking about Nickelback. "I have a lot of friends and not one of them have a Nickelback record," he says. But then he recants, kind of? "There are much worse bands than Nickelback." Man, I thought we'd be hard-pressed to find a feud dumber than [...]

Other really cool stuff for your eyes by Sophia Knapp, Karin Park and Andrew Gregory, as well as new clips from The Black Keys, Cass McCombs and Plants and Animals. All below. -Matt
