We've shown you what Raz and Hugh's albums of the year are, but they're not the only ones responsible for the Thrash Hits Top 20 Albums of 2011. Oh no. We've got a whole load of contributors - writers, photographers, and miscellaneous behind-the-scenes types - that help keep Thrash Hits running smoothly, and the albums [...]

The folks at the 2011 Download Festival felt it. Fans who saw them opening for Black Stone Cherry felt it. The lucky masses who'll be at Hammerfest 2012 are about to feel it. Soon everyone will know the band that Def Leppard's Joe Elliot has called "absolutely awesome stuff!" Ripple Music, the home of authentic, retro rock and metal, is proud to announce the signing of Northern Ireland's most explosive rock n' roll import, Trucker Diablo ! After blowing away the crowds from the stages of 2011's Download Festival, this Irish four-piece [...]
Black Stone Cherry are one of many country-infused rock bands (or is it rock-infused country?) blasting America with brash tunes and gritty self-explanatory lyrics. Their most recent work, Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea, is their third album, and while it does boast more finely-tuned production quality than previous releases it is still impossible to ignore the unoriginality. Black Stone Cherry often draw comparisons to Lynyrd Skynyrd, but I feel the similarities lie more with bands like Mountain or Whitesnake, who they had the honor of touring with on some past European dates. On [...]
Vince isn't here, so I guess it falls to me to take over his regular "Neilstein SoundScam" column... BWA-HA-HA!!! Some of the more noteworthy sales stats from the latest Top Hard Music charts after the jump! 1 DEF LEPPARD – MIRRORBALL Last week: 19,830 (debut) This is mostly a live album, which means it's basically [...]
Red State Radio Rock reigned supreme once again last week on the increasingly meaningless Soundscam charts. Metal fans won't find much to be happy about as none of the albums we highlighted last week charted, but there are some interesting stats about Ozzy Osbourne and others after the jump. 1 SEETHER - HOLDING ONTO STRINGS [...]
Joining the Download Festival 2011 line-up are Bring Me The Horizon, Disturbed, All That Remains, Turisas, The Devil Wears Prada, Ghost & ten more names to boot.

Long hair, waistcoats, drum solos and the throwing of shapes - Monday night's Black Stone Cherry show at the Academy in Dublin was most definitely at the heavy end of the scale. Promoting their new Folklore & Superstition album (and ably supported by New Yorkers The Parlor Mob ), the Kentucky four piece treated the crowd to a night of pure rock, as these photos from State's Kieran Frost most definitely prove.... [...]
Congratulations to MetalSucks Maniacs Nick Hochmuth and Alexander Holmes. They correctly identified last week's logo as belonging to the band Crimson Massacre, and each win a copy of Black Stone Cherry's Folklore and Superstition for their trouble. Rock out with your cocks out, bruthas! Don't cry if you didn't win - I still have one more [...]
You fail me again. No one correctly identified last week's logo, which belongs to the charmingly monikered band Female Nose Breaker (How would you guys feel about a band called Male Nut Buster? Recockulous.). Mercifully, none of you guessed Slipknot, Korn, or Atreyu, either, so I guess we're making progress. Still, I've got these two copies of [...]
Horns up to Eric Crescimano and MS Maniac TrapThem, who both correctly identified last week's logo as belonging to the band Blasphetized. They each win a copy of Black Stone Cherry's Folklore and Superstition. Enjoy those, dudes! Don't get in a tizzy if you didn't win this week; the fine folks at Roadrunner Records have bestowed [...]
The answer to the last logo was Necros Christos. That's not exactly the most original name for a metal band with an unreadable logo, but the name of our winner is pretty unique: Samial Chamberlain. I've never known anyone named Samial, but I think it's a pretty cool name. And now Samial has won a [...]

Day three and, as it's our last one here, we finally decide to explore the site away from the music stages. Food wise there are some great options, unless you're vegetarian when it's same old same old for the whole weekend.. After finding shelter from the killer rays and re-applying the sun cream for the third time it was time to wander around the area which consisted of many clothes stalls, stands selling pictures printed on request and masseuses and osteopaths for those who may have over done it a little in the pit. About ten minutes walk from the [...]
