Blank Space dove into existence head-first, with mastermind Kaveh Razani eager to let the building evolve naturally into its role. You'd be forgiven for finding that a confusing approach -- it c... Continue reading "Welcome to Blank Space: Here's What It's About" >

It's been a while since we last checked in with Blank Spaces , and he's certainly been munching on the fruit from the good old tree that is classic pop hits. New track No Sleep is an "indie music eat your heart out" gem, complete with contagious chorus and singalong vocals. For some bizarre reason I'm reminded of Franz Ferdinand circa third record, with it's disco sensibilities and dancefloor longing. Check it out below.

Blank Spaces - 'Hold Fast' Anonymous artists are always fascinating. And when they sound like a mix of a modern Moody Blues, upbeat and dreamy folk and nostalgic 60’s slow pop, it’s even better. Blank Spaces hails from London and records everything to tape in his small bedroom based analogue studio. In preparation for the [...]
London’s Blank Spaces present a multi-screened video for their single, “Hold Fast”. Besides the fact, that the video includes some of my favorite things in life (thunderstorms), the dramatic indie pop track is pretty damn good. It’s a slow burner, that kills for desperate affection when it reaches it’s pulsating chorus. The mysterious man behind the project doesn’t like to take photos apparently, as he has been whited out in every promo photo I have seen. Maybe that bodes well, for the pretty bleak stuff he’s creating. The band’s debut EP, Start , will be out January 2012, [...]

Don't be deceived by the picture, this isn't a late Halloween post but instead a feature on some early talents - all which tickled my ears in a number of different ways and I think they may well tickle yours as well. Pinemarten - Don't Let Me Be Denied - right click, save as to download We'll start with Pinemarten who releases his debut album via his Bandcamp page at the end of November. As pop music gains it's footing more and more in the independent landscape, Pinemarten is part of the [...]

Is summer over already? Has it begun yet? I'm not quite sure to be perfectly honest; the drab weather we've experienced in the UK over the past couple of months has me longing to uproot, leave England behind and set sail for a place where the sun occasionally breaks through the clouds. This track from London musician Blank Spaces appears to echo my sentiments entirely, if not through the lyrics but through the melancholic sound. Coming in at almost six minutes, Hold Fast is upbeat to a point; the hook [...]

Check this cat out. He's like a cross between the last action hero and Mufasa in his golden moment. Here to save Simba from whatever evil is threatening the day or maybe I'm thinking too small.... maybe he's on a top secret mission to save all of cat kind from mice. Blank Spaces - Start On the Net: Why mice? Here's my theory, cats vs dogs is way too obvious. I mean dogs chase cats... yes this [...]

blank spaces - "only dead fish" (download) Big thanks for Bomarr Blog reader Mike for putting me up on this guy. He hipped me to the UK's Blank Spaces a couple of days ago in response to the Metronomes track I posted. Upon first listen, I assumed this stuff was some lost 80's minimal synth stuff, but it turns out it's quite new. Blank Spaces does what he does, and does it well. All the songs on his MySpace page [...]

Someone whom I've been a little bit in love with for a while now is London's Blank Spaces , or -/- to his friends. He's been putting a studio together for the past couple of months, consisting of mostly analogue equipment and a 16-track and the fruits of that labour are now starting to surface. It's this lo-tech recording process, together with the brilliantly written tracks themselves, that really give his sound a certain timeless feel and it's almost like stumbling across a cassette of a band from a time gone by and [...]

All things come to an end and sometimes way too early. Cazals have split. They've produced one album to be proud of, What Of Our Future, but have now called it a day. Reason to be sad but this isn't the last thing you'll hear from the boys. For example, Dubka (Martin) and Luca C. have been working with Ali Love for a while; you might remember him from 'Smoke and Mirrors' on SSSSOUNDTRACK PT. II and his 'Diminishing Returns' has been on repeat over here. Both Luca and Warren will feature in the band 'I Blame Coco' [...]
