Clearly feeling an itch to get back to his more electronic solo material, Bloc Party frontman Kele have taken NY duo MS MR ’ s smash “Fantasy” into new deep house territory. As all MS MR tracks are prime bait for remixing, I would expect to hear a lot more soon.
A while back we reported about MS MR's shiny new single Fantasy. The catchy tune will be found on the duos first full-length studio album Second Hand Rapture which will be released on May 14 via Columbia Records. Thanks to Kele (of Bloc Party ), we now know that if MS MR doesn't work out for Lizzie Plapinger, she'd do great providing vocals for house music. "Fantasy" was once a beautiful, lush track that might remind someone of a Florence + The Machine song, but in this version it's tightly bound in a straight up house beat. Bloc Party's "Truth" was once a diminutive four minute rock song, but now, thanks to LA's Jerome LOL , it's a six minute exploration of the subtleties of the phrase "I am yours now, truthfully." That may not sound like the best time, but we rather prefer it to the original . And hey, house producers make such single-phrase studies work all the time. Bloc Party is finally back. Finally being the keyword. How long have we waited to hear the Bloc Party that we used to know? Too long is the answer. But, with their new album, Four , set to be released on August 20th, we're a stones throw away. Below is the first released single off the album as well as RAC's remix of the band's return to indie rock.
Now this is how you do a remix. Bloc Party is coming back late August with a new album called Four and Octopus is their first single. The original has the band doing what they do best: a healthy mix of neo-punk and singer/songwriter poetics. Personally, it's great to hear a band stick to their guns and not change their whole image with each album.
