Tweet If you're in the U.S. there's a very good possibility that you haven't heard of Kasabian , or you may have heard the name but not the music. If either of those are the case then allow me to change that for you. From Leicester, England, the band have released three albums to date, the one that garnered them the most critical acclaim and widespread success being their debut self-titled album from 2004. It was [...]

Tweet Admittedly I'm not the biggest Tom Vek fan on the planet, mainly because I've only been listening to him for a handful of months, but the first time I did listen to his album I could hear why he's so revered. I could hear him single-handedly paving the way for bands like Friendly Fires, Test Icicles, and even future albums from Bloc Party and Minus The Bear, but he only ever released one album, 20052s "We Have Sound". There weren't even any singles or [...]

This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can't get through writing [...]

We may have to wait until January to listen to Hercules and Love Affair's sophomore album, Blue Songs , but H&LA main main, Andrew Butler, is keeping busy with his record label MR. INTL. His label's whole spiel is to release retro bangers that don't sound anything "pre-'85 or post-'943. And first order of business? Release a seven-minute jam with techno maestro Jason Kendig . The jam in question is called "And I'm (So In Love With You)" and will be available exclusively at Beatport on August 30 before being released on vinyl sometime this fall. [...]
QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like, out into the wide web world (or dubya dots). Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can't get through writing up pieces for each artist and stay on top of the game, so hopefully this will alleviate some of [...]

Kele’s new single “Tenderoni” was debuted, as ever, by Zane Lowe this evening. Many listens later, I’ve been through many stages of initial optimisim, disgust with try-hard dance music, apathy and confusion. At the moment, I’m stuck at the “love-it-but-know-it’s-awf ul” stage, and am quite happy to remain there. Tapping into the hard wash of synths that acts like MSTRKRFT perfected “back in the day”, there’s no questioning that Kele knows what he’s doing, but is he just four years too late? Either way, to quote Kele himself, “Well, I certainly like it”. Kele – Tenderoni (Radio [...]

british indie band bloc party put out a new video for their new joint, and it's awesome. off the new album, intimacy . first time i heard of bloc party was from my girl raqui, but the first time i jammed them was at this barber shop in boston with my man kendall. i know what you're thinking, but it wasn't a typical barbershop. it was more like a salon, but i found a hispanic dude who cuts good hair in there, [...]
With Forth set to hit music shelves next Tuesday, August 26, The Verve is now streaming the album, 11 years in the making, on its myspace . The free taste will last until next week, when which you will either be forced to dabble in one of the elaborate box sets or relive memories of "Bittersweet Sympony" at Coachella . Kidding aside, in a month that brought news of other Brits and their new albums (see: Bloc Party , Oasis ), The Verve definitely has us most excited. [...]
