Earlier in the month we gave you the come back track from indie-disco kings pins Bloc Party, and now we have another new one for you. 'Day Four' is the second single to be taken from the soon-to-be-released Four , their first album since 20082s Intimacy . It's a far more thoughtful, melancholic effort than Octopus was, drifting into the 'So Here We Are' territory of yester year, except tinged with more sunlight than they previously dabbled in. It's very pretty. Listen below.

Yes. Yes. One yes for "Yes, that's correct" and one for "Yes, I'm so happy this album is on its way." Bloc Party will release Four their, you guessed it, fourth studio album on August 21st (US) and August 20th (rest of the world). The album marks the band's return after a 2+ year hiatus and the first release of all new material since 2008's Intimacy . I've long been a fan of Bloc Party and when frontman Kele Okereke announced earlier this year that we'd be seeing a solo project from him pretty soon, I got excited for it. It turned out to not be what I expected it to be those few months ago, but instead a seemingly continuation of Bloc Party's last album "Intimacy", especially the more dance/electronic-fueled tracks.  Alicia over at BaebelMusic got in touch with me to let me know about a showcase he recently did for them featuring some cuts from his new solo album "The Boxer" as well [...]

Last week we got a glimpse of how Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke's debut solo album might sound with his first single "Tenderoni" , and the result was like a danced up club version of Bloc party.  Replace guitars for synths. Today he released the video for "Tenderoni" and it's the kinda video you'd expect to go along with the music; Dance moves by ladies from the future, fluorescent lights, weird clothing, and some guy's back. In advance of his upcoming solo album, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke will play a series of Irish dates in May. Hopefully they go down better than the first time I saw them at Oxegen, when he said he was "delighted to be back in the UK". :D He'll be playing Limerick, Cork, and Belfast, as well as the Academy in Dublin. Bloc Party are to release a new single, and like 'Flux', it doesn't appear on an album. This didn't make the cut for Intimacy . Was it being saved for single-only release, or was it not good enough? I personally think the former. It definitely is better than tracks one and two on that return-to-form album. The single will be released October 20th, as well as making appearance tagged on to the physical release, due October 27th. Maybe it's a way of getting people to buy actual CDs instead of downloads.
