Moor Hound: Holiday Steve Marino started writing songs in his bedroom back in Florida in 2008. Since then, he's moved to Indiana, and his songs have become a little less cheesy and juvenile, and more abstract, and self-pitiful in nature. Cryptic whining - I guess you could call it - mostly about girls (who would have guessed?) and maybe a reference to a dog here and there. Sleeping Bag: Walk Home Bloomington, Indiana isn't a name that rolls off the tongue as a purveying city of pop greatness. Yet here we have a band, Sleeping Bag , creating some very catchy, sometimes jangle-influenced, other times rock-related pop songs. The band's debut self-titled LP dropped in 2011 and it was pop, but it was also mopey. Favorites like "Sunroom" had a downtrodden nature to them despite having more upbeat instrumentation. Murder by Death: Lost River In June this Bloomington Indiana based band signed up for their first album with Bloodshot Records, their sixth full length in the quickly growing and maturing catalog. The album was apparently funded on Kickstarter and quickly doubled past their goal to a couple hundred thousand dollars by the end of its run, setting a record for third most funded album on the grassroots site. Yesterday, the band released a demo of their latest track "Ocean Song."  The track is immediately reminiscent of Albert Hammond Jr.'s solo work on his underrated 2006 LP Yours to Keep . The Wailin' Smithers have just a handful of shows under the belt, mostly house parties and a few opening spots at The Bishop.
