Brian Wilson played the Highline Ballroom [Sunday] night as part of its sister club's month-long Blue Note Jazz Festival , and though the two-set show featured his entire current Brian Wilson Reimagines Gershwin album of Gershwin standards, it wasn't jazz, really, but no less demanding--and rewarding. The Beach Boys' beloved creative genius brought a 12-piece band of multi-instrumentalists/vocalis ts--and a local female string section--and all lived up to his contention that it's one of his best bands ever. The Gershwin album, which was conceived under the aegis of his hero George [...]
As you may know the other night Kanye and Mos Def joined Lupe on stage at the Blue Nite Jazz Club in New York City , where else! A few sound snippets and bits have emerged since and today check out this nice clip of Ye's freestyle right from side stage. Pretty sick. Enjoy and props to Hypetrak fro finding this.

Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco & Mos Def – Blue Note Jazz Club Freestyle Wow what a treat! Why doesn't this happen to me when I'm at shows? After a 4 night stint at the Blue Note in NYC, Lupe brought his good friends Kanye West and Mos Def on stage for a 30 minute freestyle [...]

Here's a blast from the past: Mos Def and Kanye West freestyling over a selection of interpretations of Dilla beats played by a live band. But this isn't really a throwback post - because this little open mic session actually took place this past weekend. The platform for this little off the cuff session was provided by jazz man extraordinaire Robert Glasper (if you don't know, you should get familiar , or check out this dope little tribute project ). Mister Glasper, who is signed to [...]

So, Kanye and Mos show up unexpectedly at Lupe's show in NYC. Kinda like Mos w/ O.F. on Fallon? Word. They go in for something like 7 minutes on a beat from J. Dilla (RIP). "How could I argue w/ that?" Thanx to: Nahright? who sayz: Kanye’s verse is going to be misquoted transcribed on every rap blog website in the world tomorrow. Kanye & Mos Freestyle | Mediafire [mp3]
Spotted @ CiscoNYC . Recently the Robert Glasper Experiment took over NYC's The Blue Note Jazz Club with Lupe Fiasco to do a few songs. Then, out of no where, come 2 unannounced guests by the names of Mos Def & Kanye West. With the band backing them they then begin to freestyle off of the tops of their heads. It's always good to see 2 highly respected MC's still do things like this. You'll even hear Ye doing some freestyle singing at the very beginning as well. Also below you can stream Lupe performing "Kick, Push" [...]
