Black Moth Super Rainbow hold a secure place in my heart as a band I'd love to see live but have, on several occasions, missed. With a new album coming out next year, Psychic Love Damage , there are definitely things to look forward to for BMSR fans. I noticed just now that the teaser they posted for the new album had yet to be posted on Earmilk (I saw it and thought about posting it a while back, and then probably got distracted by porn or work or work porn or something), so it only seemed appropriate to [...]
This week at Spinner, we got some news about the Flaming Lips' upcoming collaboration schedule. Lips frontman Wayne Coyne snuck into Spinner's interview with Death Cab For Cutie to ask them if they'd like to work together on a short EP. Wayne asks for instrumentals or unfinished songs to collaborate on and Ben says they've [...]

The new Go! Team remix of Black Moth Super Rainbow 's "Twin of Myself" is a super happy and pretty little song. The indie/ electronica heads over here at Earmilk get stoked real hard on BMSR , and we've been waiting for the right time to give them what they deserved on a post. For those of you who aren't familiar with BMSR, they are an experimental band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It's extremely hard to describe their music, but on the insert on their album Dandelion Gum , this was written: [...]
The other two Dicks are out carousing and eating meat (except for Brian, who's probably grilling some protein-infused soy extract product due to his vegetarianism). I'm stuck here at Citizen Dick central campus after a really strange day. It's Memorial Day Weekend, so I normally use this three-day vacation to catch up on all sorts of things for the office and try to hit a cookout or two. Mainly I put my feet up and relax as much as possible, but today I had to attempt to clean up a legal mess. I have to confess, for the last few [...]

Black Moth Super Rainbow is coming to Lexington's Red Mile Barn tomorrow, 5/19, for what is likely to be an amazing show. BMSR serves up a soupy blend of electronic-pop-folk-rock that just keeps you captivated. The band has a new album coming out May 26th called Eating Us and, from what I've heard, it is going to be a crowd pleaser ( even Kanye digs it ). I'm guessing we will get to hear some of the new album tomorrow, which only makes it that much more exciting. Lexington's Tiny Fights and [...]
A Review Of A Record - Sort Of We got the digital preview of Eating Us last week and it's a, "record of fuzzy bliss." (Prefix) The band is sort of an even more abstract Animal Collective but this album...

It's an honor to present an interview with Tobacco covering the dichotomy between Tobacco and Black Moth Super Rainbow , as well as touching upon earlier works and hinting towards the future. As satanstompingcaterpillars , an introduction to lo-fi synth-pop was made and as Black Moth Super Rainbow grew from the ashes, several good men and women stronger, the music has not only gained in appreciators but taken on a unique form of production different from any other music being made today. Without spilling our collective hearts out and continuing with words which do no justice, [...]

Well here comes another Song Of The Week post. Not much that interesting has really been grabbing me recently. I am excited however about one of my favorite bands ( Black Moth Super Rainbow ) releasing a new album in the next few months, called 'Eating Us' (out on Graveface Records). If you don't know of/haven't listened to these guys, just search for their tracks on waves. Warms, fuzzy, mellotron laden, psychedelic, mmmmmm. This track is actually off their new 'Don't You Want To Be In A Cult?' 73. MP3: Black Moth Super [...]

Tonight @ The Knitting Factory in The Main Space... I gets to see me some: \\\\\\\\\LA Noiseartists Health will hopefully top their previous performance when I saw them in the very same space. The band has really set a high bar. My expectations are pretty high. Listen: "Tabloid Sores" (box.net mp3) Download more Health here and here and here . They are taking a break from working on the new album to tour with NIN . This [...]

Holy crap, this is late. I put this together last month and then totally forgot to post it. Without further ado... "With the release of Fucked Up Friends on the immediate horizon, an unlikely supporter has swooped in to offer help for beat-pysch sideshow Tobacco. Indeed, the star of the Truth anti-smoking ads, Derrick Beckles, has apparently gone pro-Tobacco. Surprising or not (if you've caught his work at Street Boners and TV Carnage, probably not), Beckles has created an absurdly hillarious multi-part video series in support of Tobacco and the forthcoming Fucked Up Friends, due October 14th via Anticon. Check out the first clip in the series below, premiered over on Beckles' site this morning, and keep an eye out for [...]

Black Moth Super Rainbow have got to explode sometime soon. With 3 albums as Satanstompingcaterpillars perviously, then 4 albums as BMSR, along with plenty of EP's, they have got to make that next big jump soon. Well, in the meantime Tobacco (the lead vocalist) has just released his own album called 'Fucked Up Friends'. Its still in that same sun drenched, kaleidoscopic vein with more of a hip-hop wash over it all. One of the tracks even features vocals from Aesop Rock . Don't worry if you don't actually like hip-hop (like me) because it doesn't [...]
As you all know I love these guys. They have some free tracks on their website in the news section to dowload called Bonus Drippers. Check it out. http://www.blackmothsuperrainb ow.com/news.htm http://theblueclover.com

Yes yes yes... this was available earlier this week on the Forkcast . But I am hoping that your rss feed for Pitchfork has been down. Download: "Palmitos Park (El Guincho Cover)" (box.net mp3) as performed by The Ruby Suns Can't say it is as good as the original, but you can understand the lyrics, sorta... well more than the original anyway: "Palmitos Park" (beggars mp3) Watch the El Guincho video for "Palmitos Park": Sub Pop page is here .
