Bobby D delves into the Irish duo's musical history, creative process, and recent mesmerizing mini-album The Light.

Welcome to yet another edition of Bob Dylan Fridays. Lately, I've been listening to a lot of early Dylan. It's fascinating to watch how his songs evolve and how he matures as a song-writer, but he was truly brilliant, even in the early days. His turn of phrase is nothing less than fantastic and whimsical. I think I've posted some gems from the bootleg "Let My Poor Voice Be Heard" which are a shit ton of early Witmark demos .... buuut here's a bunch more! Baby I'm In The Mood For You [...]

Welcome to Another Bob Dylan Friday! Woo! We made it to another Friday and while today was kind of weirdly gloomy yet sunny in Los Angeles, I'm bringin' ya a BDF featuring a single song in many different forms. That song is the impeccable 'Maggie's Farm': Bob Dylan Fridays feat. Maggie's Farm : Maggies Farm - BORDER BENEATH THE SUN Maggies Farm - BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME Maggies Farm - THE FINAL NIGHT & MORE @ WEMBLY ARENA Maggies [...]

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is set to join the mooted musical collaboration between his ex-bandmate Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan. Dylan and McCartney expressed an interest in working with each other earlier this month, with the Daily Express now reporting that Starr will join them on drumming duties in California this summer when they hook up. "The word is Ringo is likely to play drums on a couple of tracks once Paul and Bob have put some songs together," an anonymous source told the newspaper.

This weeks Bob Dylan Friday has got a theme! Yay. The theme is: "Songs That Were Never Properly Recorded and It's a S-H-A-M-E". One Too Many Mornings (Genuine Live 1966, Disc 2) Performed live in 1966 many, many times as an electric song and it was never properly realized in the studio this way obviously, and that's a shame. Who Killed Davey Moore? (Bootleg Series, Volume 1) One of Bob's cleverest songs (is that possible to say?) with a really catchy rhyming scheme and, well, in [...]

BOB DYLANS 68th BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION Yep! Today is the day (well, this is not for sure, but I've got some information that says Bob Dylan was born on another day in May) that the greatest one of all time turns 68! There's just too much to say so I hope that you can join me in listening to the GQ Motherfucker and Only Him all day. Thanks. For your time? Dimestore Medicine Bootleg: Phantom Engineer Sitting on a Barbed Wire Fence I Wanna Be [...]
T-Minus: 1 Day!!!!! So today I have for you special friends the special mono mix of Blonde on Blonde. I've been listening to that album alot lately ... and while there's nothing I can't say that you don't already, you should probably take this if you're a collector as I am. It comes from the (4.6+ GIG!!!) Jewels & Binoculars 1966 26-CD set that I just finally got my grubby paws on. It's .... jaw dropping. Blonde on Blonde Mono Mix: Absolutely Sweet Marie I Want You [...]

T-Minus: 3 days!!! Yes, we're on the tail end of the countdown to Bob's 68th birthday, a monumental occasion that I will be celebrating this Sunday and you should, too. In celebration, I give you another FULL bootleg of outtakes from Bob's amazing album 'Blood on the Tracks' called the New York sessions. A lot of the takes are very very similar to the recorded version, but a worthwhile download if for nothing else than the early version of 'Tangled Up in Blue' where Bob makes the interesting [...]

t-minus 4 days! So for today's countdown to Bob's 68th Birthday, I bring to you a gem of a 7th CD from Bob's 8-CD bootleg epic "Genuine Live 1966". I try never to post full bootlegs but these 8 Cd's are literally so amazing. it's bob truly at his finest and the best recordings of most of the blonde on blonde songs got because of the accident and his subsequent brief retirement from touring. Anywho... Genuine Live 1966 - Disc 7 Free Trade Hall, Manchester, England - 17 May 1966 [...]

t-minus: 5 days Yep, it's Bob Dylan's birthday on Sunday. So get ready for a very Bob filled countdown to his 68th birthday! Celebrate! Btw- this is probably one of the best gifs of one of the best moments to happen on the earth. Try not to smile whilst watching it. You can't. Don't Think Twice (It's Alright) [1963 Carnegie Hall] Tell Me Momma [Dylan and the Hawks] It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train To Cry [Live recorded 1994] [...]

No, I'm not late. Because like Bob, I do things on my own time, whenever I get to 'em. So here's the 2nd edition of Bob Dylan Fridays. Absolutely Sweet Marie (Live, 1994) North Country Girl (Witmark Demo) Stuck Inside of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again (Every Night About This Time) One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later) (Darkness at the Break of Noon) Visions of Johanna (Genuine Live 1966, Disc 7) To Ramona [...]

It's very well publicised that 50%+ of this blog is making fun of the NME. I have now created a special post for that. Awesome. Today's BECAUSE YOU NEED TO KNOW is about the greatest, Bob Dylan. Oh, NME. Without this news, what on earth would I do? Bob Dylan recently went on a £16 bus tour to John Lennon's childhood home in Woolton, Liverpool. A spokesperson for National Trust, who own and maintain the house, said: "We couldn't believe it when his agent rang us and asked if we could get Bob on one of [...]

Here is a song!!! DOWNLOAD -> Spanish Harlem Incident (Live from Bootleg Volume 6, 1964) by Bob Dylan

So, here in LA it's been a gorgeous (albeit hot as hale) day and I've just been laying around enjoying the airconditioning and making some phone calls whilst listening to Bob Dylan. Then I realized I have 8 gigs of his music, which is.... a littttle over the top. So the best thing to do is share it with people right? Great. Here you go, some commercially unreleased (note: some have been released) or rare tracks that I've been listening to a lot lately. I Don't Believe You (Live at the Hollywood Bowl, 1965) *this [...]

I think this calls for a special gif post?

Bobs 33rd album, 'Together Through Life', went straight to the top of the charts in the UK for the week. It's Bob's first UK number one since 'New Morning' in 1970. That's a long time but this album is really great so I'm incredibly pleased for Bob. The Top Ten albums in the UK are: Bob Dylan – 'Together Through Life' The Enemy – 'Music For The People' Lady Gaga – 'The Fame' Beyonce – 'I Am Sasha Fierce' Lily Allen – 'It's Not Me It's You' Pink – 'Funhouse' Prodigy – 'Invaders Must [...]

Bob Dylan's new album 'Together Through Life' is provisionally sat on top of the UK album chart, with the mid-week sales revealing a comfortable lead over The Enemy's second record 'Music For The People'. Dylan's new record could be his first chart-topper in the UK since 1970's ‘New Morning’. NME.COM understands that mid-week sales for the album stand at around 17,000 as of today (April 28), while The Enemy's 'Music For The People' are near the 13,000 mark. If 'Together Through Life' stays on top throughout the week it will be Dylan's seventh [...]

Bob Dylan has said he thinks The Rolling Stones aren't "real" enough without original bassist Bill Wyman in the band. In an interview with MTV producer Bill Flanagan to promote his new album 'Together Through Life' , Dylan said he regards The Rolling Stones as a mere "funk band" without Wyman on board. The bassist quit the band in 1990, after nearly three decades service. "I'm not saying they don't keep going, but they need Bill ," he said. "Without him they're [...]
