When For Emma, Forever Ago first started making waves, we knew only one side of Justin Vernon, the driving force behind Bon Iver . Over the years, we've seen him break free from that image we all had in our heads of a cabin dwelling, broken-hearted guy with an acoustic guitar. This performance of "Beth/Rest," in front of a sea of fans at Coachella 2012, really highlights just how far he's come.

With two days of Coachella 2012 come and gone, footage from numerous artists' sets have surfaced, many of which are full performances. Coachella weekend one rages on , and last night featured sets from marquee acts like Radiohead, Bon Iver, Azealia Banks, and ASAP Rocky. Their sets have been thrown up online, which you can watch below. Notable: St. Vincent plays her a song, "KROKODIL," during her performance. Found this little gem via my Facebook stream (Thanks Laura!) for the "other" track from that Triple J performance over in Australia.  Everyone was posting on the Anais Mitchell cover he did (and it is worthy) but why did everyone seem to not appreciate this version of Calgary he performed?  Regardless - it is another alternate version of 'Calgary' that gets the deep and almost gritty voiced Justin Vernon as opposed to the more "Bon Iver-y" version from his latest album.  Enjoy. During a recent visit to Australia, Bon Iver sat down in the studio of Australian radio network Triple J to do a live performance of their song "Calgary." While there, Justin Vernon and co. gave some love to past collaborator Anais Mitchell, whose 2010 album Hadestown featured the guest vocals of Vernon himself. Following their live performance of "Calgary," tha band performed a subtle rendition of Mitchell's song "Coming Down," which was part of her recent album Young Man in America . If you like Bon Iver 's music, chances are you will also like music that Bon Iver likes. It's complicated science stuff, but it has something to do with A and B and therefore C, I think.
