February is always an exciting time of year to plan ahead for music festival season and this week has been a busy one around these parts. Everyone else is getting busy, too; it looks like the Bonnaroo website was just relaunched with a new set of 2012 graphics and a promise of an artist announcement [...]

Yesterday Bonnaroo organizers AC Entertainment and Superfly unveiled a redesigned bonnaroo.com featuring all-new graphics in preparation for this year's lineup announcement, which is due next week according to a note on the event's website. Shortly after the new design went up, a regular at the Inforoo.org message boards who uses the handle Alberto Balsalm posted an image featuring a lineup utilizing the new graphics that he claimed he found on the "Roo website shortly after they updated it with the new theme." The Inforoo community has been slowly figuring out the 2012 [...]
Promoters of the Bonnaroo festival announced that after the first 10 years of the festival, they have donated more than $5 million to local, regional and national charities and organizations. Festival partner Rick Farman explained that as they prepare for the 2012 festival, organizers have challenged themselves to surpass that over the next 10 years with new programs and upgrades to existing charitable outreach and philanthropic support through the Bonnaroo Works Fund (BWF), the festival's official charitable arm. Farman says its charitable focus has been an important part of Bonnaroo's guiding tenets [...]

Bonnaroo is reliving its 10-year history with a new photo book. Available now through the festival's website , and on April 1st in stores nationwide, Bonnaroo: What, Which, This, That, The Other comprises over 400 photos from the festival's last 10 years, along with an essay written by music journalist Alan Light and numerous personal anecdotes from fans, festival producers, various staff members, and musicians and comedians who have performed there. As for what 2012 has in store, current rumors suggest Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Phish will be making appearances on the farm. As [...]
One step beyond Bonnaroo's frequent attendees are Bonnaroo's really devoted fans. If you're in that group, you'll no doubt be aware that the festival puts out yearly clues as to their upcoming lineup. These Roo Clues are a fun way to tease fans with little bits of information. Bonnaroo's twitter account has begun posting these [...]

We're less than five months from the start of Bonnaroo 2012 , which is set to take place in Manchester, Tenn. between June 7 and 10. Last year's lineup was announced on February 14, the 2010 lineup was announced on February 9 of that year, while the lineup for the 2009 edition of the country's biggest and most prestigious music festival was revealed on February 2, 2009. In about a month we should officially know who will perform at the 11th Bonnaroo. 'Roo Lineup Rumor Season is in full swing and for those who haven't been paying attention, or didn't [...]

How was 2011 for you? 2011 was an amazing year. I sold-out my European tour, put out some 73s and three music videos. I DJ'ed a ton, walked in Fashion Week and hosted a music show on the LOGO Channel. It's been busy and amazing. Highlights? Playing Bonnaroo was definitely a high point. I played a proper hip-hop set — like '94-'06 — basically everything O.D.B. ever guested on. It was late [at] night and the crowd was super hype. I got caught up and rapped every word to [...]

a Sasquatch 2011 patron ( more by Josh Darr ) The new year is approaching, and while you're making last minute plans and thinking up your resolutions, you can also start thinking about what festivals to attend in 2012. Here are some updates on next year's US festivals (not in any particular order). SXSW , which is taking place from March 9-18 in Austin, with the music portion form March 13-18 , has already announced a bunch of [...]

As we've reported over the last few weeks, 2011 saw the release of plenty of great music. Luckily, in a year with so many great releases, we also had the opportunity to see plenty of great shows. From arena blow outs to dive bar ragers, the following are the 13 best live performances I saw the last 12 months. 1/15: Punch Brothers @ Bowery Ballroom (NYC) Punch Brothers are arguably the most talented touring band today, and their mid-January Bowery Ballroom performance did not dissapoint. Billed as one of their famed "P-Bingo" Nights, Punch [...]

If you have attended a music festival in the United States over the last year or two, odds are you have experienced Pretty Lights or heard about his music and live show. His unique soulful electronic music has spread like wildfire through the blogosphere and has resulted in a massive U.S. fanbase, which is evidenced by the large number of sold out tour dates. Today, Pretty Lights has teamed up with the technology behemoth BitTorrent to release a media bundle that contains PL's Glowing [...]

It's always exciting news here when we see that Radiohead has expanded their 2012 tour dates to now include some summer dates in Europe. There's still room for the band on that Coachella lineup(s) as well as the clear gap in the beginning of June when the band will probably be one of the major [...]

You may have heard us wax poetic about Aunt Martha before. They were our surprise favorite at Bonnaroo this year (Kenzie and I rearranged our entire Sunday on a whim to catch their set after hearing a single track a few days before arriving in Manchester), and since then, I've immersed myself in their music, keeping their Blood Shot EP in constant rotation, then adding their new album, Norway, ME , when it was released in September. We have photographed and interviewed them, and still we want more. [...]
English indie rock band Arctic Monkeys returned to Raleigh tonight, Oct. 12, and performed at Disco Rodeo . The band visited the venue April 2010, but this year brought along Smith Westerns to open. Chicago-based Smith Westerns released their sophomore album earlier this year. Since then, they have played with TV on the Radio , Cults and Yeasayer , in addition to international festivals including Austin City Limits Music Festival , Fyf Fest , Leeds Festival , Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo . [...]
Bombadil's Bolivian folk-rooted music will bewitch your soul and open your eyes to a refreshingly new sound.

78 degrees, sun, enormous park in the middle of the Midtown neighborhood in Atlanta - those are some helpful ingredients for a music festival. It also helps when the festival goes off like clockwork, with great food and not too many long lines. But what really makes any music festival a success is the music itself, and that ingredient certainly didn't disappoint yesterday at Music Midtown , Atlanta 's major festival that was returning for the first time in six years. While the headliners were great, I thought [...]
This is one of the shows of the year if you are into experimental, dramatic rock music. For what is sure to be one of the most spectacular and bitingly intense performances to ever unfold inside the former juice shop/brothel/gym, Explosions in the Sky will be blowing the gaskets out of Tipitina's on Wednesday night. A lot of bands could learn from watching these guys, their ability to patiently build a crescendo into a rousing, larger-than-life musical exposition is just about unparalleled. My brief glimpse of their set at Bonnaroo this year was enough to thoroughly pique my interest in [...]
Regardless of your thoughts on this year's lineup, to the festival's credit, the Voodoo Experience always does a bang-up job of compiling one of the most unique, wholly eccentric and random yearly lineups of any American festival. No one outside of the Rehage camp could've envisioned this sorta lineup and I'm actually kind of excited about it after having been to Bonnaroo and ACL this year (two great festivals, but two with a great deal of crossover acts). Doubt I'll get another chance to see Soundgarden, Blink-182, Fatboy Slim, Peelander Z and Snoop in the same weekend.
