[Photo by Keith McArthur] Yesterday we told you about Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk's plans to release a bevy of new music before heading out on tour. They followed up their correspondence with three new tracks. Here's one of them for you. The song "Picnic At Zug Island" is from their forthcoming cassette split with New Orlean's The Pharmacy . BBDDM have also informed us that one of the 73 they are putting out is a split with fellow Chomp Womp [...]

This week's edition of New Music Thursdays was curated by Notes From Middle America columnist Danny R. Phillips . Many musicians try different sounds, vibes and configurations before hitting on one that seems to ring true. Josh Thomas had been through a couple of different bands prior to landing on the post-shoe gaze freak-out that is Kansas City's High Diving Ponies . There was Bodisartha , the Nirvana / [...]

It's not every day that a band can gracefully shift between the worlds of hypnotic ambiance and bone-crushing punk. Boo and Boo Too is from Kansas of all places. And even though they obviously know how to get a good guitar riff going, the band also shows a clear devotion to sound experimentation--you can almost hear them gazing at their shoes. On this track, "No Tempo," it should be no surprise that about a minute and thirty seconds of the song actually has no tempo, but when the track actually does pick up speed, watch out. [...]

Boo And Boo Too No Tempo Ironpaw Records [2008] Fire Drills Review: This Lawrence, Kansas band's full-length debut No Tempo is an enjoyable blast of 10 post-punk shoegaze tracks that bring the angular vocal placements of The Walkmen while hitting the listener with feedback and carefully placed noisy guitar like Sonic Youth. This combination completely works for Boo And Boo Too because the band accomplishes a classic alternative sound while sounding fresh. [...]

We saw 137 bands , but it is our journalistic duty to narrow them down into a small, opinionated list that you will undoubtedly disagree with. So for our final 2008 CMJ Music Marathon post, we asked our five correspondents to give us their top five bands from this year's festivities. To jump to a specific writers picks: Derek Evers , Zach Timm , Elizabeth Cawein , Will Suter , Jenn Misko . Editor Derek Evers' best of the [...]

MP3: Boo and Boo Too, "I'll Be Your Whore" Detroit is chock-full of amazing shows this week, from Friday's Nice Device CD release at the Magic Bag to School of Seven Bells, Deastro, Javelins, and Zoos of Berlin over at the Pike Room. We've got Jay Reatard and Man Man tonight, the Silent Years on Saturday, and Mates of State and Minus the Bear on Sunday. Who says nobody good ever comes to Detroit? Anyway, we thought we'd give props to the D's very important DIY scene, and tip [...]

New Wax Lawrence, KA's Boo And Boo Too follow up their electrifying self-titled EP with a new album entitled No Tempo . The best music usually contains warring elements and Boo And Boo Too is no exception with it's dark yet poppy, anthemic yet unbridled output. No Tempo manages to feel informed by the past while marching forward into musical regions unexplored. It sounds like some strange marriage of Sonic Youth and The Walkmen while exhibiting the noise-rock sensibilities of No Age. No Tempo [...]
