Yoofs - 12 My friend Mike, from Bournemouth blog This Scene Isn't Dead (who put on Bos Angeles ' first show in the Spring), also has a lo-fi project, by name of Yoofs . They've been turning out some glistening 60s numbers these past few months, enough to have earnt them shows with Real Estate and Spectrals last week. All from the comfort of Bournemouth's famous blackwater caravan, that's some pretty nice work. This latest track, '12', which they wrote and recorded over the weekend, has really won me over. [...]

Bandcamp is becoming a crowded place. The longer it lives on, the more bands (quite rightly) upload their music to it. But, as we know, most music is pretty rubbish. So when after hours of trawling you stumble upon something even vaguely good, the feeling is euphoric. Of course the risk is that if you find something that is only half-good, in comparison to all the dreadful rap-rock, singer-songwriter folk and nu-rave electro dance, your brain mistakes it as something excellent. On first exposure to Yoofs , you're transported to the windswept West Coast of those frayed, untied states of America thus that in reality they're from the fringes of Bournemouth, while initially a touch dumbfounding, only adds greater gusto to the squally breath of weed/seaweed-perfumed air they exude. Info comes at a premium, although they once operated under the moniker AC SLATA before getting pestered by 'some DJ' . There's not a huge amount we can tell you about Nightbreaker - other than his new track 'I've Been Waiting' is the most sublime thing you'll hear this week. We could tell you that his real name is Leo Chilcott and that he's from Bournemouth - but then we're all but giving you his postal address and we'd rather deal with music than the Royal Mail.
