Alaska's Portugal. The Man made its Atlantic Records debut with this new album, In the Mountain In the Cloud. And because I didn't really like the band's past two albums, I'm surprised to see the music moving in a direction I like a lot more this time around. The ambition that permeated from Portugal's earlier work is more present here. So in today's quest to find some new music I figured it was about time to sort through the insane amount of soundcloud tracks that have recently been sent to us. Boy was I happy to find this gem known by the name Manwomanchild . They self-describe themselves as having a 702s glam-rock style sound and I'd say that's pretty spot on, yet hitting a more modern re-creation of it by adding in synths and complex lyrics. Their debut self-titled album was released in December of 2010 and is filled with tracks featuring [...]

U2 & Muse just finished up a South American stadium tour last Wednesday, April 13th. How did the two groups celebrate? With a covers/karaoke filled after party. Vocals on their last album were really muddy, and almost hurt to listen to at point. But dammit if the band just didn't up and turn it around for their latest, Dye It Blonde . One of my goals (let's not call it a resolution, ok) for the year to is try to stay a little more timely with what I'm reviewing. I often felt like I was behind the ball last year, reviewing albums weeks after they'd been released and after you'd probably read a million other reviews already. Walter Meego’s music is so grand and streamlined that you’re left stumped as to guessing why it hasn’t projected the act into the mainstream.
