We've tried but failed to pigeonhole Helsinki Blonde - their skewed songs of pop just refuse to fit. The duo have been quietly dropping tracks via Soundcloud but we wanted more - so we sent a personal invite across for them to join us at the studio. The band played their latest gem - Cod Liver Lover - which for the title alone deserves extra points.

You've seen it here first - the new video from U.S. Girls. It was directed by the band's sole member - Megan Remy - and is, as you'd expect, not what you might expect - if that makes sense. Check it the hell out! The latest U.S. Girls' record, Gem , is still one of the highs of 2012. So if you want xmas to come early this year then catch the band on their current European Tour: 27 Nov - La Peniche, Lille, FR 28 Nov - Les Ateliers Claus, Brussels, BE [...]

Here's a awesome little video of a recent Bowlegs Session featuring Vivian Girls and their latest single "Take It As It Comes".
When Bowlegs starts dreaming, be day-dreaming or night-dreaming, we like to soundtrack it with Pop - but it can't just be any sort of Pop, it must adhere to our strict guidelines. So whilst we don't actually have an instruction manual, we do know at least three of the following words must be suitable descriptions for the hopeful composition: blurry, ethereal, light, other-worldy, airy, floating, laid-back, clouds, wandering, smooth, warped, sweet, carefree. Those that are successful are duly inserted into the box entitled 'Dream Pop' - here's a collection of them: [...]
We decided it was time to make a mixtape featuring some our favourite female artists - which at first proved fairly easy, being that we are currently overloaded with great material from that particular gender. Yet as we piled up a mountain of truly wonderful music it soon became apparent we would have to discard 80% of it - we kind of figured no one wants a 7 hour mixtape. We knew the final track had to go out to Poly Styrene - the singer for X Ray Spex who died earlier this year - she was [...]

Baltimore has got some crazy shit going down. Where else can you jump from Dustin Wong's prog - experimental trips to Thank You's Psyched out and crazed Rocking? And don't get us started on Dan Deacon's mind-bending dance and Double Dagger's guitar fest. So just hold on tight and don't say we didn't warn you! Tracklisting: [...]
Last night, Ireland got its first, long overdue spotlight on music video directors of this country at the IMTV Video Music Awards . The inaugural event saw Eoghan Kidney win three awards including Best video for Valerie Francis' Punches, Best Director and Best Original Concept. It was a great night, a celebration of the creativity of largely under-resourced folk and a timely reminder that Irish music videos are as vital as ever, which is something we are finally seeing again with Under the Ether and Una Mullally's forthcoming TG4 series in 2010. Most importantly, [...]
