Escobar season has returned Danny Swain week continues here at MJF. Uncle D. Swizzy was kind enough to give us an in-depth look at his new album Payback coming soon on Interscope. Without further pause, let's jump right in. 1. "Overture" So with Payback being another Danny! conceptual album with a storyline, I wanted to open it up with this cinematic, super-epic track. Most rap albums, you know, they'll start out with an intro and call it "Intro" or whatever, and that'll be [...]
I don't know who this girl is or what Australian town she came from, but she's moshed her way into my heart with this one single song, "My First Hardcore Song." Hopefully, she'll be releasing more material soon.
Sai Nam TBA Label – Reaper Records Release date – Winter 2012 Wanting to close out 2011 right, I hit up New York's Highline Ballroom for the almighty Cro-Mags' annual end-of-year gig. I arrived at the venue earlier than anticipated, my curiosity piqued over the first act of the night: Sai Nam. A so-unlikely-it-just-had-to-hap pen collaboration [...]

Wednesday, November 23, 2011 For the sake of not having to write the same intro a million different ways throughout the rest of time, just know that this column avoids the overly long and sometimes dull process of full film reviews and instead opts to break things down based on what I thought going in, what happened while I was there and what I learned at the end of it all. Thanks for reading! The Breakdown - The Artist The Impression: [...]

So its all taken its toll on Jenifer Lopez bless her. She ended up running off stage during her headline performance at the Mohegan Sun Arena's 15th Anniversary celebration in Ucasville, CT last night. The dramatic moment occurred after the actress turned singer offered an acoustic version of her song "If You Had My Love". After performing the song she spoke to the sold out crowd but people realised something wasn't right. "This is the first song I wrote about love," Lopez said. "What is love? As the last song I wrote about love...a [...]

Wolf Gang used to be touted as the sophisticated, suave alternative to tuneful guitar pop, although turned out to be all too tame for the most part. Wild Beasts meanwhile are indubitably the Lake District's most celebrated musical mouthpiece, yet while their melodramatic (increasingly) popular songs may well be doused in suavity, their predilection for sexual innuendo and incessant hooting and howling is oft enervating. Emerging from Kirkby Lonsdale to straighten the misdirections of his compeers, James Bennett, aka Mozart Parties , has readied the sort of single that would have lined Woolworths' coffers with pocketmoney a decade ago. [...]
If you're like most musicians these days, there are two big questions you struggle with. First, what are we trying to say with our brand/image: pretty boy party animals ala Asking Alexandria, srs brooding artists like Converge, ponytailed betas (Animals As Leaders), or what? And second, but more importantly, how are we going to come [...]
Heyo Boppers. - Our first track is a remix by French House master Surkin. This is a sexy chopped up version of Para One's Midnight Swim. It is quite fun and features a dramatic break down and build in the middle. This track got a lot of play when it was new and is still worth hearing! Check out Marble Players for more Para One x Surkin (x Bobmo). Para One - Midnight Swim (Surkin Drowning Mix) - Another track from "around" [...]

So, this post is cool to me, I hope it is to you also. It's the 50th here and wasn't sure how things would be at this point, or whether they would "be" at all, but here we are. I have the Sicklove track from last week's Rock U Fest announcements, so I will include that at the bottom after the four newly announced Rock U Fest artists. But first, I have an STLMU *Exclusive* which I'm excited about, I know Alex is too. He is from the group Peach and they [...]

I was very disappointed with the beginning of this season's "Curb Your Enthusiasm." It almost felt like Larry David was sending it in this season, but these last several episodes have nailed it every time. I have been guilty of the "chat and cut" on numerous occasions. It's just nice to know that the stealth move has a name. Maybe it always had a name, and I didn't know. As far as "Entourage" is concerned, it has brought nothing to the table and at this point, I too am going through the motions. I've invested too much [...]
News I wasn't alive back in the 1980s to see it firsthand, but from what I understand it was considered cool back then to play guitar solos. And I can see why: if you are home sick from school and you watch VH1 Classic, whenever the guy in the video plays a solo, the crowd goes [...]

Time to get planning, the Oxegen 2011 day and stage breakdown has been unveiled. The Main Stage is typically heavy hitting as Black Eyed Peas, Foo Fighters and Coldplay headline Friday, Saturday and Sunday respectively, also boasting slots from My Chemical Romance, Arctic Monkeys and Beyoncé no less, with The Strokes, Deadmau5 and Pendulum doing the honours over on the Vodafone Stage. Tame Impala, British Sea Power, Clare Maguire and The Rubber Bandits have also been added to the bill. State has plenty of suggestions on who to see, we'll be running [...]
