Best Coast Confirm New Record

Damon Albarn (Gorillaz mode), James Murphy and André 3000 have worked on a track together for the Converse "Three Artists, One Song" project. The track is called DoYaThing and it will be available from 23rd Feb on the Converse Website

Sigur Rós Return to the Stage

Sigur Rós are back in the studio working on a new record. And now they've announced that they will be playing Bestival on the Isle of Wight in the UK, which takes place from September 6 to 9. It is the group's first live date since 2008.

Liz Phair Stands up for Lana

Liz Phair has joined the Lana debate with a long piece in the Wall Street Journal Blog One section reads: "Lana Del Rey seems to be bothering everybody because she allegedly "remade" herself from a folk singing, girl-next-door type into an electro-urban kitty cat on the prowl (of course I like her), and they feel she is inauthentic. I would argue that the uncomfortable feelings she elicits are simply the by-product of watching a woman wanting and taking like a man".

Ty & White Fence Get it Together

Two of our favourite garage-rocking, lo-fi spewing musicians, Ty Segall and Tim Presley (aka White Fence), have got together and recorded a whole album entitled Hair . It's out on Drag City in April and the pair will be touring the record. Segall tells Spin, "we'd like to bring the guitar solo back to rock'n'roll." Segall is on drums and rhythm guitar and Presley on bass and lead.

Details have emerged for Jack White's solo record on his new website . It's called Blunderbuss and is out on Third Man Records on the 23rd April. We'll let Jack elaborate: "It's an album I couldn't have released until now. I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name. If you haven't heard already YouTube recently rejected the new promo video from Perfume Genius (for his upcoming album) deeming it as 'non family safe'. Well Michael Stipe has stepped in to criticise the video platform saying: "I find their actions in doing so disgraceful and cowardly. YouTube, shame on you. Etta James RIP

Etta James, the legendary blues singer, has passed away after a battle with leukemia. She was 73. Her career started in the 50s and she soon signed to a subsidiary to Chess Records (Arco) releasing classic tracks like Trust in Me and At Last . A true legend.

J Tillman leaves Fleet Foxes

J. Tillman has left his post as drummer for Fleet Foxes, he wrote on his Tumblr yesterday: "Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go, Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes" The musician is also an established solo artist, releasing 20102s Singing Ax and 20092s Vacilando Territory Blues and Year in the Kingdom .He joined Fleet Foxes in 2008.
