We've seen an unprecedented year of new music in 2009. There's been enough diversity to satisfy practically anyone's music tastes. We definitely had a surge in surfer sound revivals, dreamy bedroom pop, lo-fi garage rock, and psychedelic electronica, but we also heard just about everything in between. It'll be interesting to see what trends emerge next year. Before we leave 2009 for good, we wanted to recap of our top rated album releases [...]

How will you look back on 2009? Norman "Fatboy Sim" Cook: 2009 was my year of getting sober and rediscovering a new world of DJing and the release of the Brighton Port Authority album (at last!). Highlights? A fantastic summer of festivals, the highlights being Trash City at Glastonbury, Marley Park, Dublin, V festivals, and the legendary Yokohama beach party in Tokyo. Great new music from Armand van Helden, Herve, Fake Blood, and the brilliant new Crookers album. Lowlights? [...]

Connan Mockasin - Egon Hosford ( youtube ) [...]

The Tapes Have Been Found! Throughout the 1970's, as Britain succumbed to the likes of The Wurzels and The Brotherhood of Man, somewhere in Brighton a loose collective known as The BPA was hosting 48 hour warehouse parties and producing a series of tracks with passing musicians that became a part of musical legend. Within the seafront HQ of The Brighton Port Authority , (originally styled the Brighton Phonographic Authority) chairman Norman Cook , later to find international fame under a variety of guises (incl Fatboy Slim), and cohort Simon Thornton [...]

The BPA is the new project by Fatboy Slim. Slowly we have been hearing tracks from the album be released and now we finally have the full length record. Sadly, I think that the record sufferes the same ill-fate of most of Fatboy's recent material. Yes, there is a lot of positives here but there only manages to be a few diamonds in the grass. This album features a huge list of collaborations with Simon Thornton, Tom Gandey (AKA Cagedbaby), Justin Robertson, Ashley Beedle, Lateef, Martha Wainwright, Jamie T, David Byrne & Dizzee Rascal, Iggy Pop, Olly Hite, Connan Mockasin, [...]

The legend of the "lost" BPA tapes has simmered amongst the music community for decades. Now, BPA Chairman Norman Cook and company are finally ready to reveal The BPA sessions to the world. The collection has been dubbed, I Think We're Gonna Need A Bigger Boat [...]

image: tuftsmania flickr There is a ton of shit that I FEEL like I've written about, but judging by activity of this website, I obviously haven't. Time to play the " What's TUFTSMANIA been listening to over the past year game "! These Brazilian gangsters known as The Twelves have been putting their disco-keyboard touch onto to tracks around the world like a really good sounding case of HSV. They also do absolutely fuego-breathing original productions, some of which you will listen to in short [...]
