you should know i'll never let you down The UK's The Other Tribe dial things back from their highly accurate jam "We Should Be Dancing" and the result is excellent. This kind of sensual mellow-pop gets me pumped for summer.

When someone sells something to you with comparisons to Atlas Sound and Kurt Vile, you know you’re either going to be left ecstatic or mightily underwhelmed. Fortunately, in the case of Oliver Wilde, the former definitely applies. “Perrett’s Brook”, true to those comparisons, enters with that laconic, Vile-esq drawl, circling round unsettling, butchered fragments of guitar that would make Mr Bradford Cox himself proud. We’re already sold, but then the track blossoms into a wall of sound which goes straight for the emotional jugular; it could even be Fuck Buttons at their as-yet-undiscovered tenderest depths. [...]

Interview | Wolf Alice by Sammy Maine Ever since ' Leaving You ' entered our ears, we've been a little bit in love with Wolf Alice . Producing subtle harmonies, affecting lyrics and a no-frills approach, it seems that all eyes have been firmly fixed on this four-piece from London. Thankfully, they've produced the goods and have become one of the most intriguing bands around - never sticking to one genre, never giving too much away. After ' Leaving You ', there was ' Fluffy [...]
I was devastated, absolutely devastated to hear that atmospheric alt-pop band Trophy Wife , who I've never had the chance to see live, will be disbanding later this summer. Or technically I guess they have already disbanded, since they've already announced their plans that they will be no more. They've told fans that there will be life after the current incarnation, it's just unclear what exact form the band and the music will take in the future. If you live in the UK, however, there is one saving grace: the Oxford [...]

Not Mathematics is the debut EP from Bristol four-piece Casimir, who on their Facebook page uniquely describe their sound as, “music for giants”. Whether this is an effort at avoiding the sometimes painstaking cliché of having to pigeon-hole themselves into a genre I don’t know - but I do feel this 5-track EP does cater for man and giant alike. By Karla Harris

Svalbard From: Bristol, UK Lazy equation: (Rinoa + Modern Life Is War) x the inevitability of environmental collapse. URLs: Facebook // Twitter // Soundcloud // Bandcamp Thrash Hits verdict: We love a bit of progressive UK hardcore, so the thoughtful but forceful racket knocked up by Bristol's Svalbard was just the ticket for our Future Hits column. Lead guitarist/vocalist Serena Cherry answered most of our questions, but left it to [...]

Festival co-founder Simon Maltas takes us behind the scenes of what is sure to be one of THE events of the summer, ArcTanGent Festival... - by Hannah Morgan
First off, in the interests of a new, humble, and wholly transparent blogosphere, big up Rob Leedham and his ever-more-humourous DiS Does Singles column for turning me onto Bristol miserablist Oliver Wilde . If I hadn't been suitably piqued by a description of Flutter as sounding like the product of Kurt Vile forming a Doves tribute band, I wouldn't have spent all today drifting in and out of a vague, pseudomedicated haze, Wilde's tracks on repeat in my headphones, ignoring my colleagues and my workload. It was one of the best workdays in [...]
