![[Listen/Download] Broken Bricks- “Fortune Out of You” and “It Won’t Get You High”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4367400_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Broken Bricks have released two new tracks recently. These guys sure know how to rock out. If you love classic rock tunes, they seem heavily influenced by those roots. The songs were home recorded with very little takes. They wanted the song to speak for itself and they do. Broken Bricks- It Won't Get You High Fortune Bricks- Fortune Out of You Bandcamp
by teepoo I didn't actually post any single song posts this week due to all the CMW update. This week the chart will include the track that can be found with the CMW post/photo set. Here are the most popular tunes of this week! Position Last Song Link 1 4 Gary Clark Jr.- Bright Lights post [...]
![[CMW] Broken Bricks @ Hard Luck Bar 03/22/2012](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4162276_lg.jpg)
by teepoo I have no idea how I walked from El Mocambo to Hard Luck (which is kind of in middle of no where), but I made it in time to catch Broken Bricks . Marlon and Luke had a full band with them and they both looked like such rock stars. Luke was behind this striped box thing and I took a while to realize it was a keyboard! They played songs from both Little Fugitives and Pasquale . Even with a smaller [...]
![[Interview] Broken Bricks](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4153435_lg.jpg)
Welcome to the first interview ever on the blog. I enjoyed all of them this week, and there will be definitely more in the future. First up was Toronto's own Broken Bricks T: I found you guys on Bandcamp around the time when you released Little Fugitives , but I don’t actually know anything about you guys. Tell us about Broken Bricks. BB: Well I guess starting at the most recent point, Little Fugitives , that came out pretty much [...]

Tweet Hello, I'm back from Ride the Tempo to post some Canadian music you certainly must check out. I'm pretty sure I posted about Holy Fuck in Box #5 but there's just something about this song that keeps me coming back. I played it in a turntable.fm room before Canadians got blocked out of it and everyone wanted the song. Holy Fuck - "Stay Lit" Dark Mean [...]

![[Listen/Download] Broken Bricks- I Met a Robot](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3597275_lg.jpg)
by teepoo I know this isn't the single off Broken Bricks 's new EP Little Fugitives but I've fallen in love with I Met a Robot . The tune is an acoustic guitar and piano just so adorable and catchy. I find myself singing along and and swinging side to side to the tune every time it comes on and completely infatuated with the Marlon Chaplin's vocals. The rest of Little Fugitivies is more upbeat and rock, but it's definitely a must [...]
Filed under: Concerts and Tours , News , Exclusive Zoe Sky Jordan It was dreadfully early on a Wednesday night, but the lads in Broken Bricks didn't mind. Ripping through an inspired NXNE set at Toronto's premier Mexican Restaurant cum music venue, Rancho Relaxo, the four-piece band, who were heralded as a not-to-be-missed act this week, proved they were worth the hype. Guitarist Marlon Chaplin and pianist Luke Kuplowsky traded vocals throughout the short set last [...]

![[Listen/Download] Broken Bricks- Pop Song](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3249717_lg.jpg)
by teepoo Broken Bricks released their Little Fugitives EP last month and it can be grabbed at Bandcamp . The Toronto indie folk group seems to have a couple of performances in March that some how coincidentally don't fall into Canadian Music week, damn. Pop Song is a rockin' anthem with the right keyboard driven hooks. There's something to be said about having little production and just basic instrumentation, you need some great songs for that to work and I think Broken Bricks [...]

Live music picks for WEDNESDAY MARCH 2 through TUESDAY MARCH 8, 2011. WEDNESDAY MARCH 2 / L'ORCHESTRE D'HOMMES-ORCHESTRES / THE THEATRE CENTRE / 1087 QUEEN ST W / $25 / 19+ The multi-instrumentalists from Quebec return to Toronto for a four-night stay at The Theatre Centre to celebrate American singer-songwriter Tom Waits . It's difficult to describe what type of show " L'Orchestre d'Hommes-Orchestres Performs Tom Waits" really is - a play, a concert, a concert-play. But what matters is their performance and how they bring [...]
Broken Bricks are the Toronto duo of Marlon Chaplin and Luke Kuplowsky. In 2009 they released an LP of demos, but this week saw them drop their first proper release, the EP Little Fugitives. The record, produced by John Critchley (Dan Mangan, Hidden Cameras), is a fun romp. Kicking off with "Pop Song" there's a definite Anglo-rock tinge to many of these tracks. That mixes well with the often

What a season to be beautiful without a reason. Just reignited my love for all things White Stripes after being tagged in a long-forgotten photo on Facebook. Believe it or not, in high school, me (as Meg) and Niccolo (the Italian exchange student - as Jack) performed ' Dead Leaves and The Dirty Ground ' as The White Stripes for our school's annual 'Stars In Your Eyes' competition. HERE is the evidence. We didn't win (obvs) but we were the only act to play completely live with no backing track. [...]
I don’t usually plug bands that I don’t really know, but a friend asked me to do this favour for her, so here is it: A local Toronto band called Broken Bricks is having their CD release party this Saturday (July 25) at The Monarch Lounge , go check out that show! I visited their MySpace page the other day and heard a few tracks... enjoyed what I heard and actually wouldn’t mind hearing their album!

Legion Hall was probably the most unique and hilarious venue I've ever attended for a live concert. Although its ambiance was settled somewhere between high school dance and bar mitzvah, that didn't stop the bands and fans from rocking out most triumphantly as Toronto welcomed its very first visit by Montreal psych rockers The Sound of Sea Animals . Opening the evening was Broken Bricks , who are a Toronto band who give off an organic rock 'n roll vibe that is tempered with a knack for presenting a decent [...]
