I have such a soft spot when it comes to mushroom risotto. If I am walking down the street and see a stray bowl of creamy risotto wondering around aimlessly with no owner in sight I will 10 times out of 10 take it in. This leads to some hectic craziness in my place. A few weeks back I had no less than eight bowls lounging around this cramped ass apartment. Thankfully it took me just a short amount of time to find them a good home. I don't think I could've lasted much longer. Currently we only [...]

British rockers Broken Hands recently released their live Quadrangle Session EP this October and subsequently hit the road with Deaf Club early November for an abbreviated UK tour. The band are relative newcomers to the UK music scene and they have a full-on, jangly sound with tons of rock and roll charisma (landing them a tour with Band of Skulls) and thus a live presence that hints at something great. Check out the contagiously bubbly debut single “Brother” for its sweet and easy melodic buildup, true-to-form sing-along quality and just that perfect touch of the blues. “Sorrow” another [...]
Kent four-piece Broken Hands' brand of punchy, guitar-driven rock has stood them in good stead over the past 12 months, releasing a series of singles and touring with Band of Skulls - they're now gearing up for their very first UK headline tour. Broken Hands stick to a tried and tested formula but it has to [...]
The VPME ‘If You Need To Lie’ by Broken Hands, has that sort of rockular garage vibe in a Black Lips, Black Keys, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, kind of way. ( Is that enough bands with "Black" in their title?). It's out on 28th May and is rather bloody marvellous. If we were to consider waxing lyrical and getting all wanky we'd say something like" A cascading crescendo of coruscating guitars drive the song forward replete with a fashionably laconic but melodious vocal delivery which proves that guitar music ain't dead, just in need of [...]

Things are starting to pick up for this London band, who are set to embark on a UK headline tour next week, which is just another milestone they've hit this year. Broken Hands [ Twitter / Facebook ] have been rather busy so far in 2012, as If You Need to Lie comes barely two months after previous single Sorrow , which is also streaming below for your delectation. Their brand of punchy, guitar-driven rock seems to be something of an anomaly on the London scene these days; as most of their contemporaries strive to do something [...]

Here are a few tasty streams for you to hit the play button on, and a couple to download too. First, some new blissed-out, hypnotic psychedelia from White Fence who have a new three track single out titled Green Balloon via Sexbeat Records in Europe - limited to 500 vinyl copies, and we've just pre-ordered one of them... a Next up is the altogether more aggressive and fractured punk beats of Death Grips . I've Seen Footage is another taste [...]

Today we bring you Broken Hands ' third single, 'If You Need To Lie', which follows on rather nicely from last month's 'Sorrow' ( listen here ) in the sense that it makes us want to break out our skinny jeans and strut down Camden high street whilst drinking Carlsberg. It's catchy, it has guitars and it has balls. Indie 2012. Listen to the track below and make sure you check out their rather extensive UK tour (dates below the player). Sat 5th May 2012 [...]
Here are a few of the new singles that have come our way recently that are well worth a listen. The Diamond Center are purveyors of very fine lush, shimmering neo-psychedelia. A new 73, California / Bells will be out on the 13th March and you can listen to the woozy, pulsating goodness of the title track here. Next up, and while a touch more raucous, Bear Driver are in a somewhat similar vein with their brilliant new single Big Love , which is a [...]
