'Little Basement' is the debut album from London based Corkonian Maria Byrne and it's a wonderful collection of inoffensive singalong songs which brings a warm glow into my life. Charming, delicate and honest are three words I'll be using a lot to describe Maria Byrne's fabulous debut album 'Little Basement'. It's probably my most listened to album so far this year as I was fortunate enough to get a sample copy way back early in the Summer. The singalong chorus 'All You Need' has [...]

I'll be honest, I overlooked Bishop Allen & The Broken String when it was originally released in 2007. It's not that I hadn't heard the band yet, or that I didn't like them. To the contrary, the year before its release, the band had released an EP a month for twelve consecutive months, and I had purchased and thoroughly enjoyed each of those EPs. I played tracks like "Vain" and "Corazon" on near repeat for months on end. Instead, due to the quantity of the bands output the year before, I had suffered Bishop Allen-overload so that when [...]
Let Me Run is a hard-working band from central New Jersey. They love their rock n' roll, touring, and have a mastery of the Taco Bell menu. We dropped in on them at their practice space to see what they have cooking, find out where they came from, and where they are going. Feed The [...]
Big thanks to Matt Mondanile for the heads up on this vid, probz way better than Wavves and I like that I can't quite work out if the lyrics go "Dude my board/dude where's my board" or "Dude, I'm bored/dude where's my board" (the latter?) but yeah, nice and day-glo lo-fi with actual substance and actual Californian harmonies, cats.
by kevin diamond "This is either an auspicious beginning or an inauspicious beginning" explained singer Justin Rice. Bishop Allen had just finished their first song, and the bass amp was engulfed in flames. "I'm gonna go with inauspicious." It was a memorable start to a show that was at times energetic and at other times lagged, yet ended with a bang. It was especially apropos for a band that sings about signs and signals, and who penned a tune called "Same Fire." What it really showcased, however, was [...]

a hammer hit the nail with great sympathy Bishop Allen - The Ancient Commonsense of Things Bishop Allen plays the kind of music that everyone can enjoy: upbeat, poppy, and infectious. They came on the scene with their 2006 EP project in which they released a 4 song EP each month of that year. 2007 saw the release of The Broken String , a near perfect pop gem that clearly benefited from a busy 2006. If 12 EPs is [...]
Brooklyn-based band, Bishop Allen [Myspace] are currently preparing to release their upcoming record, Grrr..., which drops March 10th on Dead Oceans. While we came off critical in our previous review [The Broken String Review], I loved BA because I love indie pop and I think that Justin Rice and Christian Rudder get the concept [...] [[ This is a content summary only. I am not sure about the song, it just sounds like Sting trying to cross over. But, I adore both artists, so I have to digest it. It'll be big, watch and see.

I know I have been posting non-stop on Girls Aloud these days, but they are seriously the best pop band out there today. And you know how I like the pop. This is their special on some British TV channel and this was the highlight. They filled in for Nelly Furtado on "Broken Strings." James Morrison is looking mighty fine these days, isn't he?

Bishop Allen - ClickClickClickClick.mp3 Bishop Allen - Rain.mp3 3hive recently reminded me about Bishop Allen . I have been a fan of the DIY band for some time now and their first label release The Broken String (2007) is a classy accomplishment. I completely agree with Joe: "I could listen to Click Click Click Click all day." bishipallen.com - myspace [...]

English Version: After 12 monthly EP's and an acclaimed debut, yesterday The Broken String, Bishop Allen's new album leaked. With twelve songs taken from unreleased works and reworked tracks from their EP's, this new cd features better arrangements from all the songs we've already heard before (only if you know the prior works) For me it's to early to make a complete opinion, but I'm digging the album, it goes from the catchy clapping songs ( Click, Click, Click, Click, The News From Your Bed ), the easy listening ( Like Castanets, [...]
