While on tour through Europe in 2011, Brother Ali sat down for an extended interview with German Rhymes , a hip-hop website/magazine from Germany. It's lengthy, but detailed and insightful, and covers a wide range of topics. Partially because I enjoy the writing that someone from German Rhymes provided (mainly the term "u.s. american politics"), and patially because I wrote this post late at night, I'll borrow their description of the interview. Ali always gives good interviews, and this one is definitely recommended viewing. Brother Ali, the rapper, the albino, the muslim, the father (No particular order!) [...]

"The Best Shit You Never Saw" is a new series where we peak behind the camera into some of our favorite, and best moments of the past. These are clips that didn't quite fit with what we were doing at the time, yet are some of our favorite moments from the past. We start the series with one of favorite artists, Brother Ali. We did this interview with Brother Ali back in February of 2011, when he was in town for a Rhymefest Campaign Concert and fundraiser. The clip we released from that interview was about Brother Ali's [...]

Remember when Oso Negro rapped his recipe for Giriama Fish Curry ? Brother Ali jumps on board with a song that includes half a recipe for Sweet Potato Pie. But that isn't all there is to it... There's beef... Common... Drake... ...and a holiday hangover. Brother Ali-Sweet (Potato Pie) via Seattle in High Def

2012 is poised to be one of the greatest years in music in awhile. Why? Well, I'll give you a hint: it isn't because Justin Bieber is set to have an album coming out. In fact, I don't even know whether that's true or not. It's exciting because Phoenix, Spoon, Delta Spirit, Mumford & Sons, P.O.S., Passion Pit, Animal Collective, The Shins, Brother Ali, Dr. Dre, Miike Snow, Lana Del Rey, Andrew Bird, Sleigh Bells , and the xx are poised to release albums. That's not even including all of the new or smaller bands that will [...]

Again, sorry for the slacking lately. My ambition comes and goes...right now it is somewhere in Eastern Europe eating perogies. Here are a couple of new Brother Ali songs I am listening to this morning. Free mp3: Brother Ali - Writer's Block Free mp3: Brother Ali - Sweet (Potato Pie)
Brother Ali adds some bars to Common 's instrumental track "Sweet" and damn does it sound good. Simply entitled "Sweet (Potato Pie)" the track does nothing but build the anticipation for his new release Mourning In America and Dreaming In Color . A very nice taste of the sweet thing to come from Brother Ali in 2012. He's going to have a very good year if this is the bar he's setting. Peep it below via his Youtube page .
Brother Ali sure is keeping busy until his new record, Mourning In America And Dreaming In Color, comes out later this year. The feisty MC gets a bit jocular on this new track, "Sweet (Potato Pie),
Out of nowhere, Brother Ali springs to life to shed his two cents on the Drake and Common beef . Like many of you, I think this beef is a complete joke. I mean, sure, it is entertaining, but who really cares about the two softest MCs in the game going at it? It seems Brother Ali shares similar thoughts, as he plays around a bit with the whole situation over Common's "Sweet" beat. Mourning In America and Dreaming In Color, Brother Ali's upcoming album, is set to drop sooner than later.
