Old School was kind enough to keep us abreast of his jaunt to NAMM 2013, and along the way he introduced us to Jill, who also took some great photos. Like this one. The Butlers with Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent) from the Rock n' Roll Relics, David Allen Pick-ups, Friedman Amps event at the White House Event Center.

Happy Thursday! Today brings weather that makes you want to stay inside and be with this song. And what a song it is. I've noticed (and appreciated) the nostalgic aspect of EMPT lately, channeling some serious oldies vibes. Thank goodness that is the direction we've taken. This song breathes a slow build-up to a place that we anxiously wait for. The strings and vocals make me want to live in this edit. Where every direction I turn is a classy fella with a suit and hat, crooning into the mic. I love the way the loops work in this edit, [...]
The legendary "Rocktober" seems to be starting early this year... September's show schedule is already full of conflicts and killer shows. Please, read on! Thursday, September 6th The Tallest Man On Earth, Strand Of Oaks at The Fox Theater - Oakland Sweden's submission to the "new Dylan" contest is a fantastic one. This singer / [...]

Lenny Kravitz and Avicii have announced the video premiere for "Superlove Remix" on AOL Spinner . Avicii's rework of the song off of Lenny Kravitz's 2011 album Black and White America was released in June and became an instant hit. Brought to listeners by Avicii's own Le7els imprint, in conjunction with Big Beat Records, the track soared to the top of the Beatport charts in less than a week's time. Regarded as one of [...]
Earlier this year, we were minding our own business over on Twitter when we notice Dale Butler from Malefice kicking up a rage over the attitudes of certain quarters of the UK metal scene. Never ones to turn down the opportunity for some good ol' fashioned shit-stirring, we dropped Dale an email and asked him whether he fancied writing about what had got him so angry with a few more words than 140 characters would allow. Take it away, Dale.... "What [...]
Arcade Fire co-leader Win Butler has never been shy about making basketball references from the stage. And who could forget the 2007 saga surrounding "Arcade Fire Stole My Basketball" ? Rumors have long circulated that Butler's a beast on the court himself. Now, we have evidence that those rumors are true. Win recently played in a Toronto charity tournament, sharing the court with a few actual professional players, and came out looking pretty good! In the video below, we learn that he beat active San Antonio Spurs forward Matt Bonner in a three-point contest, and his quick little [...]

And I'm ( So in Love With You ) was the debut mr.intl release as well as the first collaboration between Andrew Butler and maestro Jason Kendig - a year later the pair have crafted part deux of their incendiary piece of bouncing classic house. all warmth, depth & sophistication comes via the use of their love of analog gear. 'Give it to me' evokes that golden era of the chi town box jam 909s and sh101s pumpin the whole way through, love that step bassline proper groove. jak attak.
![[Introducing] – The Voluntary Butler Scheme](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3211187_lg.jpg)
The Voluntary Butler Scheme is actually a one-man bedroom project from Rob Jones, based in Dudley (right plop in the middle of England). He released an album last year and has since toured with Adam Green, and watched his music being used in diverse ways, from Grey's Anatomy to BBC's Countryfile. He has a new EP coming up and the lead track off it, "To The Height of a Frisbee" is quite a delightful slice of melodic pop. How much of a bedroom outfit he is now is up for debate, as the drums sound pretty [...]

Hello loyal readers... Lotsa good stuff this week... Not a lot of creative thinking on my part, though... So just enjoy the list! Thursday, May 13th Goapele, Youth Speaks Poets at The New Parish Goapele has been the next big thing in soul music for about a decade or so now, but despite never crossing over to [...]

Let’s face it, you probably forgot the NCAA final game was tonight. We certainly did. Sure, Opening Day and the Man taking control of our souls on a Monday had something to do with it. But mostly we just wanted to move on from the horror that has been our selection skills. However, with one of the most memorable March Madnesses in recent history about to come to a close, we’d be remiss if we didn’t give our picks for the final game. By now, you should be familiar with the main players. Representing Hickory High, Coach [...]

This is the last hurrah with "One Shining Moment" looming in the distance. By the end of the night four teams will be whittled down to two and the pieces will be in place for the ultimate prize. Each team has taken different paths to this point and not many people expected any of them to be here. Let alone us here in the Crew. We're resilient to say the least & are back with our picks for your amusement. (5) Michigan State Vs. (5) Butler [...]

Our picks have been all over the place and wrong more often than not. But like the weatherman predicting rain for 17th consecutive day without a cloud in the sky, we carry on. The games have been entertaining throughout and we can always take solace in the fact that we concentrate most of our energy on music around here. With a trip to the Final Four on the line, all teams involved will need to bring their A-games today, because as we've seen all tournament long, anything can happen. (2) Kansas [...]

Even those of us strung out in Texas in the midst of deafening Hip-Hop managed to keep one eye on The Tourney last weekend. And for hoops fans, it couldn’t have gone better. Comebacks, overtimes, buzzer beaters and a few mammoth upsets made for a wild first two rounds. Today the Madness continues. To adequately prepare you for another weekend of your ass parked on the couch, the TSS Crew pick the Elite 8 and preview the match-ups. (1) Syracuse Vs. (5) Butler [...]

Day three of the world's greatest postseason tournament, so how is your bracket looking? Great? Horrible? Keeping your head above water? At this point, if you've still got your Final Four teams around, consider it a win-win and count your blessings. West Virginia shut the talk up about the Big East being the most disappointed conference thus far, at least momentarily. And Cornell did what most of the experts predicted them to do, beat number 5 Temple to advance to the field of 32. However, after today, half of the Sweet 16 will be set. Here's who we think will [...]

Today's gonna be a good day y'all. Between March Madness, SXSW and along with recuperating from St. Patty's day, this is definitely one of those unofficial holidays. With North Carolina out of the picture & Michigan State most likely gone by the end of the weekend, the door is open for a new champion to walk away with the crown. And I mean wide open. Last year, you could count on three fingers who was going to be the champ last year. But this year, there are eight or nine [...]
