It doesn't seem that long since we were in Sam Amidon's company, we've seen quite a bit of the Vermont minstrel this year. It was only a few months back that he played on the very same stage in Whelan's , and only a matter of weeks ago that he performed along side his Bedroom Community pals in the National Concert Hall on the Whale Watching tour - both marvelous shows so you'd think that's your Sam fix for the year. However, when it leaked that he would be joined by the legendary Beth [...]
Another beautifully indulgent Myles' O Reilly special. Amiina & Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh perform together at Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures. The song composed by Ó Raghallaigh is about "the rhythm of her toes".

There are many expected highlights; of particular excitement to State are the likes of Low and Amiina playing in the unique setting of St. Canice's Cathedral . This will be a rare chance to see these acts in such an astonishing venue. A full listing can be found here , [...]
Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh , a 29-year-old from Rathfarnham with a degree in physics who once helped construct a Namibian cheetah sanctuary, is best thought of as an independent and original musician, specialising in the fiddle and Hardanger violin, whose roots are in traditional Irish music. To call him a traditional musician doesn't quite do justice to the breadth of his interests and experimentation with the form, as on 2007's inventive and vastly moving Where The One-Eyed Man Is King . Ó Raghallaigh (he pronounces it "O Rye-Allah"), is an engaging and energising character who uses the word [...]
