Note: so this is a post that I put up several days ago and it was summarily swept off this here blog which you can read about below . As I note, I am not re-posting because I think this is such a great post, but rather because it was something I put an effort into and I think this album is worth discussing (which is the reason for the post in the first place). So here we have it again without the music files. ______________________________ __________________ [...]
My own review is further down, but here I thought I'd mention IndieLimerick's wonderful review, and he also has a download for the bootleg of the show. If Ryan Adams ever decides to quit his music career, he should seriously consider teaching a course entitled, "The Art of Music Blogging." After all, between Cardinology , the cups of coffee , and every other Adams related attention grabing tidbit , the North Carolina native has essentially mastered the oh so scary music blogosphere so much that anytime he does something even remotely interesting, it sends all of us, including yours truly, into a perpetual state of shock, which causes us to stop what we're doing and immediately give Adams [...]

A totally different show from last year's sit-down extravaganza at the National Stadium, where the setlist was: Bartering Lines Peaceful Valley Please do not let me go Cold Roses Goodnight Rose Rescue Blues (Ryan on piano) Why do they leave When the stars go blue Everybody knows Freeway to the Canyon Shakedown on 9th Street --- Mockingbird Beautiful Sorta Off Broadway Magnolia Mountain Dear Chicago Wildflowers Ripoff Blue Sky Blues The Sun Also Sets --- Two This time, with a new album to support, the band was billed as The Cardinals, no sign of [...]

Last Tuesday, Ryan Adams & the Cardinals made a semi-surprise appearance at New York's Cafe Select. While the eight-song acoustic set was essentially just a warm up for things to come, the performance's off-the-cuff nature and intimate setting proved for one hell of a hour. While the concert was streamed online and a few fan made videos have since popped up, up until now, only the few lucky got a clear view of the scene at coffee shop on Tuesday afternoon. However, thanks Cardinology.com's new video player , the latest in Adams' ever-growing [...]

To call the output of Ryan Adams over the last decade prolific is a bit of an understatement. How many other artists have put out ten albums since 2000? Not many that I can think of, some don’t even make it to three before the greatest hits album comes along for a quick cash-in on fading popularity. Cardinology is his fifth with the Cardinals and it stays firmly in the alt-country genre that multi-instrumentalist Adams has become synonymous with. Personally I’m undecided on whether alt-country as a label is a good thing or not. It seems like a [...]

While Ryan Adams & the Cardinals were busy trying to remember "Halloweenhead" over the Apollo Theatre on Friday night, several media outlets were publishing stories that either shed some light on the frontman's future endeavors, or are setting fans up for more disappointment. In a perfect world, we would have had that long rumored cover album of The Strokes' Is This It for years now, while "a multi-disc boxed set of odds-and-end," aka as the loads of b-sides and other material only available as internet bootlegs, would have served for a nice [...]
Ryan Adams and the Cardinals - CARDINOLOGY [2008] 8.4/10 [Thanks Blogspot for erasing my 1st post assholes] Ryan wears his heart on his sleeve. No doubt. He tried so hard to get his new album stamped with the name 'Cardinals', just Cardinals...No Ryan Adams, no Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, just Cardinals. When he eventually lost that battle with his record company, Lost Highway, he found the need to apologize to his band, and [...]

Artist name: Cardinals Album name: Cardinology Label: Lost Highway Records Gender: Alternative Rock, Country Release date: October 28, 2008 ZMErating: 9.5/10 Website: ryan adams From my point of view, it's a big shame that Ryan Adams has been in the spotlight due to his drug related problems and mental meltdowns and tantrums than for artistic reasons. But if he had a chance to release an album that would rise him [...]

The Crystal Method are American duo Ken Jordan and Scott Kirkland. They were pioneers of the big beat electronic dance genre, and one of its few American proponents. They were often unfavourably compared to the Chemical Brothers, who had far greater success in America than did the home-grown act. Although Jordan and Kirkland are both from Las Vegas, Nevada, the band was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1993. The Crystal Method did most of their earlier production work in an underground shelter referred to as "The Bomb Shelter" in the [...]

Ryan Adams latest, tenth album, recorded with his long time collaborators The Cardinals , titled " Cardinology ", got out on shelves of record stores all over the country this week. It's quite incredible how Ryan manages to spit out records after records in such a short time span. Sincerely, he would put most other songwriters to shame, but, like I've already said it before , I feel like he's rushing things too much. This leads to half-baked stuff. Of course, not all of his work is under-produced or rush, like his latest single " [...]
Although he is often accused of diluting his own work through his "if it’s on paper then it must be recorded" approach, Ryan Adams still remains a popular fixture in rock music today. His latest effort, Cardinology is the next step in the 33-year-old North Carolina's native never ending journey of music exploration, one which has seen Adams dabble in everything from country and alt-rock to Strokes covers and death metal, while picking up a backing band along the way. This time around, the musician so often misunderstood in both his real life [...]
Ryan Adams may still have yet to accomplish his desire to be referred to as just one of The Cardinals , at least when it comes to late night T.V. introductions, but that didn't stop the North Carolina natives and his faithful bandmates from offering up a stunning rendition of "Fix It" on The Late Show With David Letterman last night. Adams' passionate vocals combined with the Cardinals stellar musicianship not only added a nice live punch to Cardinology gem, but demonstrated just how tight the singer/songwriter's handpicked [...]
Ryan Adams and the Cardinals - CARDINOLOGY [2008] 8.4/10 Ryan wears his heart on his sleeve. No doubt. He tried so hard to get his new album stamped with the name 'Cardinals', just Cardinals...No Ryan Adams, no Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, just Cardinals. When he eventually lost that battle with his record company, Lost Highway, he found the need to apologize to his band, and to remind his listeners that his band is one solid entity, one solid creative force. I am a Ryan Adams fanboy. I'm not afraid to admit it. Thus I should lap up everything he does. This, however, is not always the case. I find that Ryan Adams fans fall into three categories. There's the first who love the more radio-friendly stuff such as Gold and Easy Tiger . Then the second category has the more country David Ryan Adams (the people who probably loved Whiskeytown in their heyday). They count Jacksonville City Nights and Heartbreaker as their favourites. The third category love the dirty Ryan Adams, the rockier [...]
Rolling Stone : 4/5 Ryan Adams' drug problems and public tantrums have often overshadowed his music. But Cardinology may put an end to that. His first release in a year — notable for a guy who put out three (albeit spotty) full-lengths in 2005 — it's the record he has spent the past few years promising but never quite delivering. Drunk on melody, high on musical history, but all his own, the record throbs with great playing and singing, and thrums with hope without pimping easy platitudes. It's one of the best things he's ever [...]
