The weather couldn't have been more perfect this Fourth of July weekend in Ventura. Arguably the best stop on the summer outting, the temperature never rose above 78 degrees. Attendance seemed as high as ever for the long running tour. Highlights of the day included Enter Shikari, Larry and his Flask, Lucero, Bad Rabbits, Sharks Street Dogs, The Aggrolites, 3oh!3, and Against Me. Photos from July 3, 2011 by Carlton Beener. "The Red Bull Soundclash made a stop in Las Vegas this weekend bringing along Cee Lo Green and The Ting Tings. More than 6,000 people attended the event located right on the strip, across the street from the Luxor. DJ Mick Boogie kept the crowd dancing before and after the bands with La La on MC duties. The Soundclash is comprised of five different rounds. In the first round, each artist plays a mini three song set. Cee Lo performed his songs "Lady Killer," "Bright Lights," and the Gnarls Barkley hit, "Crazy." The Ting Tings lined up "Keep [...]

Wolfmother - photography by Carlton Beener Sunday at Lollapalooza started off wet, very wet. The original forecast showed possible showers at night but by the time you woke up Sunday you could tell it would be much sooner. The rain was coming down before doors opened turning the already damp ground into mud. The crowd seemed much thinner early on than the previous two days. By 1pm the rain seemed to have stopped and the skies were clearing up, one hour later the temperature felt like it was up 20 degrees and the [...]

AFI - photography by Carlton Beener Saturday at Lollapalooza was a big day for some local LA bands. The Soft Pack opened the massive second main stage at 12:30, practically morning for most people there but they had a decent sized crowd. The Sony Bloggie stage saw both Warpaint and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros later in the afternoon. The Morning Benders played at noon on the Bloggie stage and were a great way to start the day. The XX would be one of a [...]
photography by Carlton Beener Hot Hot Heat continued their Wednesday night residency at the Bootleg Theater last Wednesday (June 23), this time bringing along Links and Eulogies. Eulogies were good but seemed a little mellow sandwiched between the faster charged sets of Links and Hot Hot Heat. If you haven't made it out yet, you'll get [...]
photography by Carlton Beener Fitz and the Tantrums took over Spaceland again for the second night of their June residency on Thursday, June 10. The majority of the crowd showed up just in time for Fitz to take the stage missing out on the openers AB and the Sea, and Sonny and the Sunsets. The [...]
photography by Carlton Beener Angels and Airwaves wrapped up their 2 month tour with Say Anything Sunday at the Venture Theater. On one of the hotter days of the year they couldn't have picked a better place. The venue is less than a mile from the beach and made for a more intimate, and much cooler [...]
photography by Carlton Beener Drums ruled the night on Saturday, May 15 when 30 Seconds to Mars took over the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. Street Drum Corps warmed up those who arrived early enough to see them. Neon Trees and Shiny Toy guns filled out the bill. An Asian drum group dispersed amongst the crowd [...]
photography by Carlton Beener Seattle bands Murder City Devils and Constant Lovers came through town last week with stops at the Glasshouse and the freshly renovated Henry Fonda Theater. The two band bill seems a rarity these days, especially in this city. The crowd at the Fonda seemed almost non existant during Constant Lovers with room [...]
photography by Carlton Beener The Specials returned to Los Angeles Thursday, April 16 for their first full U.S. gig in 29 years. The almost original lineup (sans Dammers), while a little more grey, were in top form. The crowd was a mix of young and old, many younger than the songs they were there to hear. [...]
