We review the hyper-talented Young Montana?'s debut album "Limerence." When Young Montana? 's album "Limerence" was passed on to me, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. The information was scarce, except to say that it was a brilliant album and the 20 year old producer would likely "blow up this year." Young Montana?'s sonic appropriation here is similar to (though perhaps not inspired by) Todd Edwards' cut-up/collage approach used to great effect on Daft [...]

"Acoustic set!" was the shout we heard after a crack of lightning from a nasty storm shut down the power at Zanzabar on the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend. While an impromptu acoustic set from mostly electronic artists would've been remarkable, what was more incredible was how people just kept drinking and carrying on during the five minutes of darkness like nothing was out of the ordinary. I love this city. Though the artists did not have their visual element(s) prepared in time for the show, Casino Vs. Japan and Nudge didn't exactly [...]

Casino Vs. Japan needs no overlong introduction. The ambient electronic artist has been lying low the past few years, playing one-offs every now and again with the likes of A Sunny Day in Glasgow and Atlas Sound. This year, Erik Kowalski comes back in a big way to show the kids how it's done as he gets ready to drop new material for the first time in over 6 years. His magnus opus thus far, Whole Numbers Play the Basics on the flawless Carpark label, is often considered the American response to Boards of Canada [...]

Nick Noeding Jr. is busy. Besides his Shoegaze/Down-tempo/Acousmatic /Tape music solo work as Pollination , he is also currently involved in the following projects Day Of The Woman (w/ Yppah and Stenographer ), Collider (a Yppah collab), 10k Cities (a Zoomzip collab), and Slow (a Stenographer collab). And then there is also his wildlife analysis photography. Oh, and he also plays in Yppah's live band. So we were pretty excited to received a mixtape from Nick the [...]

Electronically equipped Lexington locals Casino vs Japan will be the first band up at Buster's on their incredible Friday night lineup for Boomslang Fest . Now, I've never seen this band, so I am completely expecting them to bring a miniature-sized casino on stage to battle a miniature-sized model of Japan. If this event is actually going to take place, then I'll be front and center to see it all happen. However, it won't really go down like that. Believe me though, you'll still have a great time seeing them. Check out [...]
