Process Praise is the second album from the highly touted Tasmanian duo Native Cats out now on Ride the Snake. Their first album Always On was a fantastic and interesting channeling of what could be considered a merging of standard pop and stripped down bass centric post-punk. The first album had a noticeable bounce to it, certainly one that leaned heavier on the pop side of things and the sweet sound of Casiotone. With Process Praise the duo has lessened that vibe [...]

We could not be more excited to be bringing Advance Base (Owen Ashworth from Casiotone for the Painfully Alone , Chicago, IL) and Concern (Portland, OR) to Louisville. Owen has played here a number of times under the moniker Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, but his last stop here was on the farewell tour of CFTPA. Now we will be welcoming him back with his new project Advance Base. Check out a few of the tracks below and on the show's facebook page . [...]

Advance Base (via facebook ) Owen Ashworth , who ended Casiotone for the Painfully Alone last year , has a new project called Advance Base and it comes in at least two forms. The Advance Base Family Band is Owen along with Nick Ammerman , Ed Crouse , and Jody Weinmann . Advance Base can also be a duo consisting of Owen and his brother Gordon aka Concern [...]

"Its been more emotionally draining than I had anticipated..." - Owen Ashworth Owen Ashworth - better known to you and I as Casiotone For The Painfully Alone - has been quietly plying his trade in the music industry since 1997. Over the course of these thriteen years he's released six full-length albums, a whole load of EP's and, through extensive touring, has built up a dedicated fanbase - all of whom have been moved by his short, sweet, songs with their often humerous and always heart-breaking lyrics. Earlier this year Owen announced that he would [...]

As we told you back on July 26th , Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, is headed back through Louisville for his final tour on October 2nd. After that, you'll only ever hear Owen banging away classics like Bobby Malone Moves Home on your iPod or turntables, because thirteen years after first using the moniker Casiotone for the Painfully Alone, Owen is giving the name and the catalog an early retirement to try something new. That's right, you will never ever have the opportunity to see Casiotone for the Painfully Alone ever perform again after this show. [...]

Photography by Us ... Happy Friday to you, once again, my dear friends! Got a special little treat for ya today. The other day, I was bored with ye ol' iPod and was looking around for something different. Suddenly remembered that in my drawer behind me at my desk there's a stack of old case-less CDs I've used as dust collectors over the years. Thumbing through, found some fun little albums that I used to - and in some cases still do - listen to, but one (well actually three) CDs [...]
![Darlings - Yeah I Know - Famous Class Records [Album Review]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/1966410_lg.jpg)
If you lump Darlings in with the new garage-rock revival I understand, but you're wrong; their riffs are too clean, their style too thoughtful, their lyrics too ... meaningful to fit in with the crowds "doin' the drag" (as it were) along with up-and-comers like Ty Segall, Black Time, Intelligence and several other groups. If there is a trace of garage-rock it doesn't even emerge until "Friends Forever," and that's for a brief moment. Not to mention they play synthesizers, not banned in garage-rock circles but certainly frowned upon when they're pushed this [...]

< We don't put on a ton of shows, but we could not pass us the opportunity to bring these three bands together for one amazing Saturday night line-up. Backseat Sandbar is pleased to present Casiotone for the Painfully Alone with Louisville's Chemic and You're My Density at Skull Alley on Saturday, June 27th . Each act is going to bring a separate and unique brand of entertainment to the stage for what will be sure to be an [...]

SKULL ALLEY, one of the best additions to the Louisville music scene in recent memory, is celebrating its 1ST ANNIVERSARY on June 20 AND June 21. Jamie and Allyson contribute to the strong energy of the venue. I've been there when it was packed and I've been there with only a few people, but the talent is always good, the music is clean and the atmosphere is one that focuses on the show itself (something that is very tough to come by now-a-days). That said, you can still get a cold beer at their bar (often tended by Jamie who [...]

Filed under: Clash of the Cover Songs The Rules for Battle: Each week, we pit versions of the same song by two different artists in a head-to-head death match for musical supremacy. (Sometimes it will be the original recording vs. a cover version; other times it will be two different covers.) Then it's up to you to decide: Listen to and vote on which version you think should emerge victorious and which should be sent packing. May the best band win! [...]

Casiotone For The Painfully Alone , has a new album coming out March 10th, "Advance Base Battery Life" which is a collection of rarities and stuff previously only release on singles. It's pretty darn excellent if I might say so. It features some CFTPA covers of Paul Simon, Springsteen and Missy Elliot! Here are a couple treats from it. Casiotone For The Painfully Alone - Lesley Gore On The T.A.M.I. Show (Version) Casiotone For The Painfully Alone - Streets Of Phildadelphia (W Concern)

Some big leaks/hidden gems i've discovered in the past few: Casiotone for the Painfully Alone - Advance Base Battery Life I should preface this little blurb by making known my unhealthy obsession with CTFPA--he's my most listened-to artist on last.fm, and I feel a certain, perhaps unhealthy, self-masochistic pleasure in listening to his pathetically bleak and somber tunes over and over again. This, then, should make my disappointment with his latest LP all [...]

by ryan s. Entering through the 30,000 square foot lawn dawned with chic hammocks, open bars, and path ways to six sound stages lined with contemporary art from around the world, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be. The opening night preview to the NADA Art Fair did not disappoint. Every space showcased a different artist's work complete with gallery liaisons ready to explain anything and everything. It created a sphere of cultural stimulation that had me internally unhinged, and in a word [...]
by ryan s. Art worlds collide at the NADA Art Fair in Miami next week. The New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) is set for its sixth installment of the internationally renowned event, which will feature works from 88 budding art galleries and 19 different countries. An Opening Night Preview will inaugurate this year's fair while serving as a benefit to the New Museum on Bowery in NYC. Casiotone for the Painfully Alone headlines the open bar benefit, a fit primer to four [...]
Totally Michael [Official Site, Myspace] is a dangerous name to give oneself as a music releasing entity. It begs, just BEGS, for reviewers (such as myself) to go Spinal Tap in their reviews. If...

I went and saw Charlie Murphy open the comedy festival here in Vancouver last night. Despite having the time of my life, today I feel like ass from drinking too much. Im going to post some songs and hopefully that will make me feel better. Stay off the booze kids, and if you falter, don't answer your phone the next day. This song reminded me of "The Silence of The Lambs" which it was used in. I had forgot what a beautifully f'd up little film it is. This video below was the best [...]
