Starting real slow today with some fantastically oddball beats. Jamie xx of the award-winning new wave/pop group the xx brings his gorgeously minimal aesthetic to Adele's beautiful vocals as the song is propelled by afro-latin drums and those haunting bells the xx are known to favor. If you loved the xx remix of "You Got The Love" you're gonna love this one, too. And I must say, I fucking

LessThan3: Where'd the name "Skrillex" come from? Sonny: It was a screenname that I had for a long time for online handles. I used to have it tattooed on my lip, but it faded away. It was free, though; so that's okay. LessThan3: You started out on Fruity Loops around the age of thirteen. Talk to us about the progression from FL Studios into what you use now, Ableton. What do you think about the progression to controllerism? Sonny: Much more controllerism [...]
Sonny Moore, aka Skrillex , has taken the electronic music world by storm and for good reason. His latest release, Scary Monster & Nice Sprites, takes us one step closer to a genreless electronic dance music platform. His potent mixture of melodic progressions mixed with his deafening drops has allowed him to ravage the Beatport charts with "dubstep" chunes, which rarely ever chart. You can grab his first release for free here . Make sure to send your thanks to Mr. Skrillex for these tasty vitamins and check him out. Make sure to check out [...]

Steve Angello's Size Matters compilation will be released in the United States tomorrow and is up for pre-order on iTunes . Pendulum- The Island (Steve Angello, AN21, Max Vangelli Remix) Skrillex has been making a big name [...]
If your socks were blown off during the initial announcement of bands for this year's CMJ Music Marathon , go ahead and grab them from across the room, put them back on, and get ready to have them blown off with a vengeance for round two. On top of the already announced bill, with acts like Surfer Blood, The Blow, Four Tet, Salem, Greg Dulli, Bayside!, and much, much more, new additions to the event include (deep breath...) Phoenix, Neon Indian, GZA, Beach Fossils, Freddie Gibbs, The Corin Tucker Band, Pharohe Monch, The Pains of [...]

[It's one busy show-going weekend. Again.] Top 6 places to be in you're into supporting your neighborhood bands: ☛ The Parson Red Heads , the psych-pop band who moved from Oregon to L.A. band five years ago, are moving back to Oregon next month. They headline Spaceland tonight, with Le Switch and the World Record supporting, and it's only $2 if you wear white (which, traditionally, the band does). [ Background .] ☛ The music lineup [...]

Lucas Guerin grew up in the Los Angeles area as the son of French parents, studied theater and filmmaking and although reared in a musical household didn't pick up an instrument until he was 20. And when he closes his eyes, he hears ... Kool & the Gang, Sly & the Family Stone, Prince? "I'm always hearing the funk," says the falsetto-wielding frontman of the quartet Casxio , who have emerged the past couple of years as some of the unlikeliest but most invigorating provocateurs of disco-funk on the L.A. scene. [...]

For all the juice the supposedly revitalized, social media-fueled Sunset Strip is enjoying these days, it remains on many nights a living museum for rock clichés. Tired metal, un-ironic Spinal Tapestry, decadence-celebrating party rock and rap — on many nights, the welcome mat is out, and the audiences here, straining to hear echoes of the days the Strip was a real breeding ground and not just a cluster of good venues competing against the region's other good venues. The weekend's third annual Sunset Strip Music Festival was much more about legacy than [...]
On September 14, LA quartet, Casxio , will release Friends vs. Lovers , its first full-length LP that is all about funk infused rock and R&B songs meant to shake your booty. Also, make sure you check out and download their track "Seventeen." Last but not least, if you are in LA in September, Casxio will be celebrating the release at Spaceland on the 18th. [...]

With too much music for the incredible shrinking record industry to nurture, artists are increasingly turning to fan-funded strategies to help get their work manufactured and marketed.. Add disco-funk quartet Casxio , indie-rockers the Deadly Syndrome [that's their new Aurelien Levitan-directed video for "Armrest," above"] and singer-songwriter Bleu to the list of artists trying to finance their new projects through campaigns at Kickstarter.com , a website that allows donors to put their money where other people's ideas are. Fan-funded music is not a new idea — singer-songwriter [...]

It's a rather odd pairing — Seattle's Minus the Bear , with its tongue-in-cheek, sometimes-obtuse prog-pop, touring with L.A. quintet Everest , whose heartfelt Americana is about as earnest as earnest gets. But that's what's on tap tonight at the Mayan Theatre. Both bands are touring behind new albums, Minus the Bear's rather hit-and-miss "Omni" and Everest's glistening "On Approach." ... Elsewhere: Massive Attack 's final night at the Wiltern; the MySpace secret show at the Roxy featuring "Distant Relatives" Nas & Damian Marley; Shout Out Louds at the El Rey Theatre; [...]

Those of you who come here for the mostly folky-indie-type stuff that I usually go in for might find this post slightly out of character, but it's amazing just how good these songs sound at the end of a run, sitting on the front step gulping ice cold water and trying desperately to avoid the inevitable brain freeze. Paper Planes - MIA Feed The Animals - Girl Talk [...]

It's day 3 of the RiO!B's adventure through Austin, TX and the South by Southwest festival. Today's episode features the bands We Are Scientists, Titus Andronicus. Jukebox The Ghost, Casxio, The Cab and Witchburn. It's my last day at SXSW so today should be a damn good one. Especially since my party with Consequence of Sound happens today! Enjoy the episode, guys. The final vlog will be up tomorrow.

Spinner/AOL: SXSW David Davison- Cast Spells. Super good. Kidding! I really wish I were going.
