Texas' Driver F. is back with their first song in quite a while. After getting tons of attention for their catchy record, Chase The White Whale , the band waited more than a few years to start their next effort. The boys launched a Kickstart campaign and their dedicated fans came through. The result: "Ghosts" and a new record titled Bury A Dream due out in February of this year. Driver F - "Ghosts"

And so to another year, complete with the same retrodden stock phrases about the industry having shut down for a while, the weather being grim, and the best tunes around being those which take us away from the damp and cloud and back-to-work malaise. January scribblings about music would be utterly lost without them. Thank goodness for the kind people at Cooperative Music , then, who have supplied us with this, the latest pop powerhouse from 20 year old Tacoma, WA native Brad Oberhofer . It's called Gotta Go , it's out via Black [...]
I'm very happy to report that one of my favorite British bands, Little Comets , have returned with a new EP, Worry , coming out December 12th. The tithe track on that has a new video showing the lads off playing some gigs. The song has a bit less of the afro-pop that has become so identifiable with the band, but it is still catchy as fuck. That opening riff had me drop down. If your in the UK, you can pre-order the EP now . Little Comets - "Worry"
Armed with strong hooks and pop sensibilities, New York singer-songwriter Chris Glover has released a new album under the name Penguin Prison. The album is out now on Downtown , and is streamable via the widget above. Though a lotta pop music as been wearing its welcome with me lately, the melodies Glover writes feel a little less fleeting than what I usually hear. The dude knows how to build nice transition and segues around a verse-chorus song structure, making things a little less boring and a little more groovy.
New video for Unknown Mortal Orchestra' s "Little Blu House". A relaxing, smoke-filled journey into the eyes of beautiful ladies. Buy the self-titled album now to hear more of the easy going, catchy as hell psych jams or catch them on tour this fall with Toro Y Moi . Unknown Mortal Orchestra - "Little Blu House" NSFW.

Time to get in tune with one of Philadelphia's best new bands , Cold Fronts . I got a chance to check them out at the Bushwick Walkabout this past Saturday, and they automatically got everyone in the crowd bobbing along to their wonderful tunes. As Free Energy, was a big breakout success last year, look for these fine gentleman to hopefully follow a similar path. Like Free Energy, they play pulsating catchy guitar jams that hit all the right places. Unlike the former, they have a much more modern take on the genre, and really [...]

Just in time for the long weekend we bring you some delicious tracks from the past couple of weeks. The Afrojack remix of The Wombats' Techno Fan is an absolute banger, while Mike Posner covers quite possibly the best Coldplay song ever written, with awesome results. We also threw in an indie jam by the Young Empires, and a guilty pleasure rap song by Uncle Murda - no, ridiculous hip hop is not dead! Techno Fan - The Wombats (Afrojack Extended Mix) The Scientist - Mike [...]

Foster the People dropped their first full length this week, and so far it's shaped up to be one of the most complete hits of the summer. The band is out of Los Angeles and has a clear surf-electronica leaning - their EP scored the hit Pumped Up Kicks, and shows Foster the People is a versatile and fun group. Here are a couple of tracks that will be in heavy rotation this Memorial Day Weekend! Houdini - Foster the People Warrant - Foster the People
I waited to share this song until Friday night hit. Mickey Cupid's new single, "We Only Care About The Weekend" is the perfect piece to accompany everyone's wildest and crazy adventures that happens in those 3 days. This song will be gigantic somewhere. I'm not sure exactly where, but it's just too catchy, and the message too universal, for it not to be loved by masses. The video was shot when the duo was over in Europe earlier this year, really showing how much fun their having. The track is off their, 2nd EP, Baptized [...]

Ben Benjamin has been making some of my favorite electronic music for several years now. I first stumbled across him on the Ghostly Swim compilation album (a free Download). Then I was lucky enough to find The Many Moods of Ben Benjamin vol. 1 & 1.5 which I've spent countless hours reading and studying to. But apparently he's been doing it for much longer than just several years. About a decade ago he made a CD entitled For Long Drives and Temporary Diversions and it's now just seeing the light of day. Ben [...]

We're proud to introduce Los Angeles' The Violet Lights' first single this evening to our readers. Submitted to us earlier in the week, The Violet Lights are a duo formed in Green Bay, Wisconsin who made the the trek to Los Angeles to record a refreshing and passionate EP titled Sex and Sound . Their coming out party in the blogosphere is uplifting as the band has really committed themselves to telling their story as they evolve on their blog . Their sound is a dirty brit-pop mixed with layered indie rock guitars, with some inclination towards the [...]

Coming at you extra fresh is this new song by Purity Ring, an offspring of the electropop outfit Gobble Gobble . Singer Megan James lends some infectious vocals to the haunting, Star Slinger-meets-Burial beat production. The catchiness of Ungirthed reminds us of May I Walk With You? , Star Slinger's female vocal featuring track we wrote about a while back. It's certainly a jam to kick back and enjoy the finer things in life to - don't blame us if you space out, or find yourself singing the lyrics over the chopped-up house beat. [...]

Back when I threw together my Top EPs of 2010 , there was no question Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. 's Horse Power would make the list--baroque electro-pop out of Detroit? Count me in. The duo's got a full-length due out in June, so until then we're left only with the four-track EP, miscellaneous remixes--like their re-work of Junip's folky "In Every Direction"--and their latest single, "Morning Thought." Keep up the good work, bros. MediaFire Link: [...]

Fresh off her first release of 2011, a 73 limited edition dual single, MNDR is dropping her fiery disco every chance she gets and we're grateful. Cut Me Out is a Santogold-meets-Yeah Yeah Yeah's type of sound, sliding between heavy synths and bohemian melodies. MNDR might be the next big thing of the summer - there's no doubt that her music is built for the remixes, so we should see some interesting edits coming through the pipeline soon. Cut Me Out - MNDR

Kid Cudi leaked an unreleased track over the weekend, and it's pretty fire. I'm liking the deep horns mixed with his voice, and he's thankfully doing less singing/moaning and more rapping, which he is quite talented at. Cudi always had awesome potential, so I'm hoping there's more of this upbeat stuff to come. Capcom - Kid Cudi

One of my first posts when we started eavesdr0p was on AWOLNATION shortly after the EP Back To Earth was released. Yesterday they (and by they I mean Aaron Bruno [formerly of Under the Influence of Giants ]...since its a solo project) released their first full length album, featuring not only a sick name, but obviously some sick jams too, dubbed Megalithic Symphony . The album features 3 songs from the EP, "Burn It Down," "Guilty Filthy Soul," and "Sail," not surprised that they didn't pick "Mf" in that grouping, but damn [...]

The Storey Sisters Bad Motorcycle Cameo - 126 1958 MP3 File This one is cute and catchy as all get out!

I've got another 17 year old for you guys. This is Ian Johnson from Louisiana, Kentucky. He's an up and coming artist who had a good flow and nice lyrics. He has a mixtape out called "Lettermans & Wayfarers". You should check it out if you like him, one of my favorites is "Passout". She Told Me - IanJ
