Last week we had the privilege of talking with André Allen Anjos , one third of the Remix Artist Collective (or RAC ). With his Collective partners, Andrew Maury and Karl Kling , what began as a simple remix project, has blossomed into something that now garners work for the likes of Lana Del Ray , Temper Trap , Phoenix , and even Katy Perry! Andre gives us a little information about the creation of RAC , the members involved, and their creative process. We also talk about his individual efforts and the [...]

When asked if I have a favourite band, I am often reluctant to reply with a straight ‘yes’. Having such a passion for music, I naturally enjoy quite a bit of it, and selecting just one is quite tough. Depending on my mood, the top 5 might alter, but there is one band that will always secure itself in the top three: The National. My first exposure to The National was Christmas at my friend’s. Her family has always had great taste, and definitely did not play your typical seasonal tunes. Among the strange and wonderful tracks that hummed its [...]

Words by Jacob I have failed you, readers. I, your soundtracking guide through the seasons, dropped the ball on summer '12. Sure, I submitted an Independence Day column, both to help you host the world's most uncomfortable cookout and to support the eternal re-election of President Bill Pullman, but I skipped an actual summer edition, and for this I apologize. But now summer is at an end, and back to work we must go. Unless you have a real job, in which case [...]

Feist reunites with director Martin de Thurah in the new video for Metals ballad, "Anti-Pioneer." Unlike their previous collaboration, "The Bad In Each Other," this piece forgoes color and storyline for a stunning black-and-white portrait of the sultry Canadian songstress. Watch it above courtesy of Nowness . Metals is out now on Cherrytree / Interscope . STREAM: Feist - "Anti-Pioneer"

Stockholm's We Are Serenades visit San Francisco and perform for a few friends.

Deb Talan : Cherry Trees [ purchase ] I wrote most of this entry wholesale back in 2009, for a different song entirely. But it bears repeating, in part because it reminds us how artists rise and fall: before she joined up with Steve Tannen to became half of indieblog darlings The Weepies , but after cutting her teeth on the music industry with an upbeat Oregon popband called Hummingfish, Deb Talan had a relatively low-key, small-scale career as a solo artist on the New England coffeehouse [...]

The world seems to be incapable of getting sick of Nero 's single "Me and You." Honestly, when I saw yet another remix appear in my inbox, I almost let out a sigh of exasperation - really, again, haven't we beaten this horse to death? But honestly, it's a solid single, and I'm not tired of it yet. This remix by progressive house DJ Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia freshens the track in a big way, modifying it almost beyond recognition (though it retains that vocal hook and the buildup from Nero's original). With remixes, I often [...]

Words by Jacob Artist: Feist Album: Metals Released: October 4, 2011 Label: Interscope/Cherry Tree The critical dust currently settling on Feist 's fourth solo album, Metals is that it's a willful rejection of big money commercial success, and I know what you're thinking. It's only her third solo album right? That's what I thought too, but apparently she released one in Canada and it's out of print, probably because the song titles are all written in Canadian, and [...]

Feist Metals Cherrytree/Interscope Records [2011] Fire Note Says: Feist lights the torches on her excellent new album Metals ! Album Review: Metals is Canadian singer-songwriter Leslie Feist's follow up to her 2007 breakthrough album The Reminder .

Last month, Far East Movement performed a banging, adrenaline-fueled set of their hits at Cherrytree London , a special Cherrytree Records concert at Kings' College that also featured performances bypLMFAO, Frankmusik, Natalia Kills and Collette Carr. I caught up with Far East Movement's Prohgress, Kev Nish and J-Spliff for a quick, impromptu video interview. The group talks about the video for their new single " So What " (a homage to the Beastie Boys), a really cool and "free wired" Art Walk mash up pin downtown Los Angeles andpperforming at [...]
A radiant and gorgeous Ellie Goulding made a surprise appearance at the Cherrytree London concert on Monday night. Greeted by loud cheers of a raving crowd at King's College, the superstar British pop singer opened the show with a beautiful acoustic version of "The End," an unreleased track from her earlier recording sessions. Cherrytree London also featured performances by Far East Movement, LMFAO, Frankmusik, Natalia Kills and Colette Carr. I was there and have all the scoop. Look out for more bits and a review of the show very soon. (Download Ellie Goulding's " Lights " on [...]
