The Maccabees - Brixton Academy 26/01/12 The air of excitement is obvious at Brixton Academy. The sold out gig is buzzing. Buzzing with that most intangible of buzzes - of watching a band about to have a real 'moment' in front of your eyes. As the thousands wait for their conquering heroes there is an unspoken agreement that the next few hours is going to be special. With a raucous welcoming cheer they take their places on stage and open with the one-two punch of new album Given to the Wild's opening pair [...]

We don't know too much about this yet, other than the fact that we like it A LOT. An Edinburgh-based five piece, PET make melodic indie-pop that hints at both Subpop -style fuzziness and brooding Scottish rock. Basically, everything we love in a band. Middle Child Syndrome was released back in November and the band have also revealed this rather delicious video to sit alongside it. What's more, if you share this video on your Facebook page, Twitter account etc, the band will hunt you down and send you the Mp3 for [...]

"It's their slowest record by far, the least immediate, the most beautiful and, by a country mile, their best.." If the saturation of indie in the mid-noughties brought a slew of white UK boys with guitars pedaling half-memorable tunes and painted on jeans then it also brought us the assumption that some of them, perhaps even the majority of them, would not still be going from strength to strength in the years to come. Here we are, at the beginning of 2012, and who can honestly say that they're chomping at the bit for [...]

Here at SFC we get the entire "party your face off thing" - it's what we do. However, let us not forget others who are less fortunate and need help this time of year (and EVERY time of the year). In that vein, check out Beatport today! ( www.beatport.com ) For those that don't know, Beatport is one of the main sites where pro DJs obtain and distribute their music. Those great folks will donate 100% of their net proceeds to Keep A Child Alive - a non-profit organization dedicated to providing life-saving treatment, orphan care, nutrition, and [...]

The Maccabees rolled through the BBC's Live Lounge today and dropped this neat, borderline cinematic take on their track for "Child". The Maccabees - Child (Live @ BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge) The Maccabees ( Official ) ( Myspace ) Rating 8.4

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are expecting a baby! Beyonce made the big announcement on the MTV VMAs black carpet. I love how she's cradling her belly to show off her bump! Beyoncé nabbed Choreography for "Run the World (Girls)," beating out Gaga's "Judas," Britney Spears' "Till the World Ends" and Bruno Mars' "The Lazy Song." Perry, meanwhile, who entered the night as the [...]

The Son(s) It's been a few months since I last mentioned anything about The Son(s), that's not to say that they've not been busy. They're currently working on a new EP which is due out later in the year (from the demo's that I've heard it sounds very promising). They've just released their new single ' Slow & Easy ', which is made up of three songs, two of which are new and the other being Dogs, Boys & Men, which now has a cracking wee video to go with it. It's an animated wee number [...]
![Top 10 Famous Faces of 2012 [Hip-Hop][#10]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3644507_lg.jpg)
#10 Childish Gambino Alright, Gambino is a mastermind. When we initially posted our introduction to Famous Faces we had a small list in our minds of who we figured would be a shoo-in and who would be in the lower rungs but maybe once, did our minds circulate upon Childish Gambino . The young renaissance man has so many projects on his plate he flies under my radar. So when a good portion of our initial comments said "Childish Gambino HAS to be on this list!" It caught me off guard, but also [...]
Friday's Love Machine was epic. We urge you to join us at the next one, which will be on August 5th (full details coming soon). Thank you to everyone that came down, and as a little present for you, we present to you the Destiny's Child megamix that was played and, as it were, 'went off', inspired by Beyonce's Glasto performance which actually really made us miss the full DC lineup. Let us also never forget that they also did this, which was incredible: So, get your jelly [...]

NWLA (New Weird Latin America) is the continuation of the legendary and inspirational Mexican netlabel The Poni Republic . Although the music collective has evolved into a music news portal, they're still holding EP/album releases as their main dish. Today they released their most conceptually-driven (and wonderfully ambitious) album yet: a tribute to Chicano rock father Ritchie Valens. Trying to put Valens' legacy into words is as challenging as trying to understand the icon died at just 17 years old. NWLA recruited nine acts to pay tribute to the artist in the album Little Richard of the [...]
Slightly humorous and pretty morbid. Oh, that little girl is going to need a lot of counciling when she grows up. Not just a video of her half naked, but a video of her petting a filthy dead squirrel. Her mom at one points states she'll probably become vegan. Probably true. She'll also probably never trust that greyhound again either... Link below definitely related..

Here's another cut from Whirl 's Distressor EP, which originally debuted about a year ago. "Candy" is easily the most aggressive track in the collection and packs a punch much like the epic, and previously posted, " Leave ". Catherine Wheel and Alison's Halo comparisons are welcome. Pick up a second edition cassette of Distressor over at Bridgetown Records . [...]

This is an alternate updated version of the song. Although the original is better (it was featured on the Bridget Jones Diary soundtrack if it sounds familiar), you can grasp the prettiness of the lyrics and the reckless surrender of the beat.

Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson could be gearing up for a battle over custody of their son, Bronx. In divorce papers, filed last month, Simpson asked a judge for primary physical custody of their two-year-old child. But on Monday, her estranged husband hit back with his own set of court documents, requesting joint physical custody of Bronx. The couple, who ended their marriage just four weeks ago, also disagree over who should foot the bill for legal fees while they argue out their divorce settlement. While Simpson wants Wentz to cover the costs, the Fall Out Boy star claims they [...]

TMZ (yes, that gossip website, TV show, etc.) recently posted a video of The Aquabats launching a small child into a stage dive. The veteran Ska group were of course given permission prior to having their singer sling the minor into his first crowd surfing experience, but none the less TMZ and their commenters seem to be leaning towards of irresponsible the act was. You can check out the video along with the 100+ comments on it over at TMZ . Check out another video of a kid doing [...]
