Gambino had one of our favorite records this last year and at least two track from Camp were featured on (31) Days of Good. Though technically Childish Gambino's  new video for "Heartbeat", mastermind Donald Glover prefers to describe director Kyle Newacheck's visuals as a "reflection" of how Glover was feeling when he recorded the song. "I thought the best way to convey the feeling that's in the song was to be confused ourselves," Glove told MTV , adding, "I wouldn't say it's so much a video as much as it is just a mood." Whatever the case, having just got home from a Midnight screening of Drive , I'm now really itching to buy a Scorpion jacket and driving gloves. [...]

Madonna injures herself and the NBC suits scramble to find a replacement. Unfortunately, this is not real life, but rather the set-up for a hilarious segment on 30 Rock . Jack Donaghy has to call in some favors and drums up the talent of Michael McDonald, Cee Lo, Ryan Adams and Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover) to cover “classic” NBC tracks. Incredibly, all three did the actual voice work for the sketch. I don't know much, but I would much rather watch this foursome covering NBC songs at the Super Bowl halftime show rather than whatever [...]

LA-based production duo Oliver has been on our radar recently and has crafted another hit with their remix of Childish Gambino's "Heartbeat." I've never given Childish Gambino, aka Donald Glover, a good listen before, mostly because I'm the biggest skeptic whenever hip-hop flirts with electro. I'm also ardently devoted to Spank Rock and shun all others as imitators, which is probably not a good stance to take when listening to new music.
