For starters, it is almost entirely produced by Gambino himself, adding an additional creative tally to his list. And he does a pretty damn good job of it, too. I missed this one when it dropped on the 4th. I had a chance to listen to the entire project on my way back from an out of town wedding last night and Mr. Glover came extra hard on this mixtape. The right amount of features, the beat selection is crazy and his lyrical game has stepped way up. A must have in your tape deck. After being underwhelmed by Camp and his recent leaks, I honestly wasn’t looking forward to Childish Gambino ’s new mixtape, Royalty . Sadly, the tape has not reassure my faith in the rapper. Gone are so much of the humor, and in are much of the bravado rapping over bass-heavy production. Here's another tape that was released yesterday. This one comes from Childish Gambino . I don't feel he's consistently good, but when he shines, it's definitely something special. Kid has serious wordplay. No denying that. Just sometimes, I feel like his angry rap persona is a gimmick. I could be wrong though.
