Ever since I saw Lisa Hannigan perform 'O Sleep' with John Smith's wonderful backing vocals , it's been in my brain repeating itself over and over for the last month. Following the Snow Patrol gig at the Button Factory the other week, the Meteor Choice Music Prize have announced a second show at the venue for December 8th. Tickets for Lisa Hannigan and James Vincent McMorrow are free, but can only be won through a series of competitions on various Meteor platforms. See their Facebook page for more details. Having lasted six years without a title sponsor, the Choice Music Prize will next year be presented in association with Meteor. The phone company has had a history of involvement in Irish music, having sponsored the annual Meteor Awards for ten years. It was claimed that the event was taking a break this year but it now seems unlikely that it will make a return. James Vincent McMorrow has just announced on his Facebook fan page that he will play the Olympia Theatre, Dublin on 21st October. DSA Best Album winners Adebisi Shank are looking for a double.

Two Door Cinema Club are the only Northern Irish act on the shortlist for CMP10.

O Emperor were fifth to the stage at CMP2010.

DSA Best Pop winner Cathy Davey was among the nominees at this year's Choice Music Prize.

Come on James Vincent McMorrow. Best Album of 2010? Certainly. Well, that's just my opinion.
