Producers Shisa and Choongum have teamed up for a 90s-signifier drenched collaborative album, Seascape 64 , and the results are a hazy, half-remembered rendering of some of the era's best tendencies. Standout track "Cyberterrorism" recalls the gutsy techno of early R&S recordings, with just enough of a hint of breakbeats to be relevant to the now . A random leak from Choongum ? Sure! While he prepares to release some official tunes in the near future, "Girlfriend" is sure to hold us over. The new song is an emotional reflection on a relationship with a loved one, as Choongum flexes both his vocal and production muscles. Last month, Potholes Music's Choongum dropped an extended single in " Hearts ", a collaboration with like-minded young producer Shisa. Taking to the Summer of Haze jam "Weedwave", the left coast producer adds some synthesizers to the mix to elevate our listening experience. The final product is a mysterious, nautical journey through sound, which divers deeper and deeper throughout the track until it springs free around the 2:45 mark. Despite having several interactions with him over the years, Choongum remains an enigma. His sound never seems to fully form, always expanding and morphing into something new. For one of his newer tracks, "Oceanography", he employed Yenheist to chop up some accompanying visuals. The final product is a match made in heaven, as dolphins and other marine life swim freely to the aquatic sounds of this young producer. Stay tuned for some exciting news on Choongum, as this summer appears to be a rather busy one.

So I've been stuck in the Dominican Republic since my gig on Saturday thanks to the ultra hyped junior hurricane Irene. The irony of being stuck in the Caribbean because of a hurricane in New York of all places is pretty funny but it's beautiful down here so I'm not complaining.
