On March 6th, Trans-Records will release Now, Now's sophomore album Threads . The new album was produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, New Pornographers) and is likely to meet your indie twee-pop needs. Now, Now consists of members Cacie Dalager (vocals, guitar), Jess Abbott (vocals, guitar) and Brad Hale (drums, synth). While the band hadn't released a full-lenth since 2009's Cars , the group was eager to make a good impression on Trans-Records founder and Death Cab For Cutie guitarist/producer Chris Walla, who was a fan of the band. Decide whether or not [...]

I've been obsessing over Now, Now's new track "School Friends" since it premiered on RollingStone.com a few days ago, just like I did with "Dead Oaks" when it came out last month, and just like I do over everything they touch. "School Friends" has the quintessential happy melancholia that I long for, paired with always perfect vocals and dead on instrumentation. With every new track they release, Now, Now are leading up to this amazing new record ( Threads , out March 6th on Chris Walla's Trans-Records) that might be this year's best. [...]

Now, Now have just announced the release of their sophomore full-length album Threads , due out March 6th 2012 (via Chris Walla's Trans- Records label). Produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, An Horse, New Pornographers), Threads comes 3 years after their last full-length ( Cars) and will be one to watch for in 2012. Look for the band to tour the US extensively, including stops at SXSW and summer festivals along the way. Take a listen to this first track "Dead Oaks".
The terrifying hum of adolescence is easily forgotten by the adult world. And not the type of "teen movie" nostalgia where some terrible pop song blares as a bunch of fresh faced kids head to the beach in a Jeep Wrangler. The buzz of adolescence was that constant yearning, unsettled and uncertain, everything in mind and body running at 100 miles-per-hour. It was awesome; it was uncomfortable.

Although the first track echoes "Nothing's the same," don't worry. It's just the happier side of Death Cab for Cutie that we all know and love. Somebody said this album is proof that Ben Gibbard suddenly realized he's married to Zooey Deschanel and rejoiced. Just look at the upbeat track titles: "Stay Young, Go Dancing," "Underneath the Sycamore," "Doors Unlocked and Open." Hear lovestruck vestiges in lyrics like "She may be young but she only likes old things," "cause when she sings I hear a symphony," and my personal favorite the resounding "This fire grows higher." Guitarist Chris [...]
Another year, another record by Ben Gibbard, Chris Walla and company. But does it rank up with its best?
Death Cab for Cutie - "Home Is a Fire" (Official Video) Famed illustrator/street artist Shepard Fairey teamed up with Death Cab for Cutie bassist Nick Harmer to direct the band's latest official video off their forthcoming LP, Codes and Keys . "Nick sent me the lyrics… and they evoked the duality of 'home' both as a place you inhabit, and also as a place that inhabits or traps you," Fairey said in an explanation of the video's concept at Boing Boing . "One's relationship with home might be complicated, but ultimately it can [...]
IFRAME Embed for Youtube We've been following the band, The Lonely Forest, since they signed with Chris Walla's label and have caught the band live here in Portland and love their music. Led by John Van Deusen, and featuring guitarist Tony Ruland, drummer Braydn Krueger and bassist Eric Sturgeon, the Seattle quartet released its third album Arrows on the Trans label (aka Chris Walla's label) last month. Leverging Van Deusen's emo-esque songwriting and Chris Walla's crisp production, and off the back of some great performances at SXSW as [...]

Death Cab for Cutie - "Some Boys" Our third official taste (following single/video "You Are A Tourist" and opening track "Home Is A Fire" ) of Death Cab's forthcoming LP, Codes and Keys , arrived this morning via Atlantic Records: "Some Boys," a 3-minute, pulsing heartbeat/kickdrum-backed prime piece of ambient indie-rock. "Some boys are singing, some boys are singing the blues," Ben Gibbard declares before calling out a few Blues Hammer types: "joylessly flinging with the girls that their bringing to their rooms, and [...]

Death Cab for Cutie has released two songs from their upcoming album Codes and Keys . The first track, "You are a Tourist," resembles typical Death Cab fare, with its bouncy drumbeat and clean guitar melodies. "Home is a Fire" feels less familiar; Ben Gibbard's staticky, auto-tuned vocals and the synth blips that pervade the track give it an electropop feel. If you like what you hear below, check out the album when it drops on May 31, or catch the band when they stop at the Trocadero with the Lonely Forest on June 4. [...]

Death Cab for Cutie «Codes and Keys». Называется она «Home is a Fire» и представляет собой намного более личную вещь, скорее свойственную The Postal Service.
Death Cab's "You Are a Tourist" Video In which the first live, scripted, one-take, music video shoot ever actually became an excellent visual treatment to the first single off Death Cab for Cutie's first Codes and Keys single, "You Are a Tourist." Between the choreography, light-up suits, and laudable direction by Tim Nackashi, DCfC turned the moment into a rewarding clip upon multiple viewings. (Award for Best Bass-Sync-Strut in recent memory goes to Nick Harmer at 0:47.)

Death Cab for Cutie guitarist/producer Chris Walla recently founded his own label, Trans, part of Warner Music's Independent Label Group. Straight out of Anacortes , Washington, The Lonely Forest are his first signing, and Arrows , their first album under Walla's supervision, dropped on March 22. Kick ass, right? (Keep reading to find out)! Well, maybe not so kick ass. The Lonely Forest play straightforward indie pop, a simple sound incorporating occasional piano and strings. Singer John Van Deusen wasn't very much blessed with the gift of writing lyrics, [...]

Este é o primeiro single do Death Cab For Cutie desde o lançamento de Meet Me on the Equinox , parte da trilha [...]

If it hasn't been said already Death Cab For Cutie 's CODES and KEYS will hit stores everywhere on May 31st, 2011. But more interestingly to note about the new album, Chris Walla , the band's primary surgeon when it comes time to mix the album bowed out and let Alan Moulder (My Bloody Valentine) take the reigns this time. Perhaps this will allow Walla to focus solely on the music aspect now that the band's seventh album is upon them and their last record's anticipation quickly fizzled after the reviews came in for [...]
The Lonely Forest - Washington indie quartet follow up their promising 2009 album We Sing the Body Electric ...the first signing by Death Cab For Cutie -man Chris Walla's label // Release : Arrows (March 22, Trans) // Sounds like : the piano pop of frontman /songwriter John Van Deusen tossed together with more muscular alt/rock elements and jittery rhythms for a sound the manages to exploit a big melody while fueling [...]
