Givers - In My Eyes - Voodoo Experience 2011
Scroll to the bottom for a photo gallery from Sunday at Voodoo 2011 My experience since being in New Orleans is that Sundays are an exceptionally treasured day in the city, and this perhaps never rings truer than during the all-too-common special weekends and particularly, during local music festivals. Sunday at Jazz Fest this year [...]

@LMBNOLA: Voodoo Experience 2011: The Weird, The Awesome & The Macabre

The Raconteurs - Old Enough: live from Bonnaroo
Regardless of your thoughts on this year’s lineup, to the festival’s credit, the Voodoo Experience always does a bang-up job of compiling one of the most unique, wholly eccentric and random yearly lineups of any American festival. No one outside of the Rehage camp could’ve envisioned this sorta lineup and I’m actually kind of excited about it after having been to Bonnaroo and ACL this year (two great festivals, but two with a great deal of crossover acts). Doubt I’ll get another chance to see Soundgarden, Blink-182, Fatboy Slim, Peelander Z and Snoop in the same weekend.

Soundgarden Making Only Festival Stop of 2011 at Voodoo

Soundgarden Making Only Festival Stop of 2011 at Voodoo Soundgarden is the first confirmed act for the 2011 Voodoo Experience One of the most beautiful things about the annual Voodoo Experience - which takes over New Orleans' City Park each Halloween - is that with more than a decade of diverse programming choices, the festival has earned an inimitable reputation without having to carry the burden of the kind of overwrought traditions that turn every piece of news about the Jazz Fest, for example, into a full-on debate about the Current and Future State of Music®: Local Edition. The main stages [...]

2011 Hogs For The Cause Adds Music to The Menu

2011 Hogs For The Cause Adds Music to The Menu Anders Osborne is performing with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux at City Park on March 26, 2011 Hogs For The Cause is the brainchild of two local food aficionados who, in the fall of 2008, devised a plan to bring the hallowed tradition of the southern pig roast to New Orleans. Early on, founders Rene Louapre - one of the minds behind quintessential local food blog Blackened Out - and Becker Hall decided the pork bacchanalia should include some sort of charitable element, but they were unsure on who or what to focus until they [...]

Quintron and Miss Pussycat Announce New Album, Tour

Quintron and Miss Pussycat Announce New Album, Tour Local organist/mad scientist Quintron and his performance artist partner in crime Miss Pussycat just put the finishing touches on a new album, Sucre Du Savage, recorded under circumstances that can be considered unique even by the standards of the Crescent City's most esoteric musical duo.  As part of the exhibit "Parallel Universe - Quintron and Miss Pussycat Live at City Park", the husband/wife team reported to the New Orleans Museum of Art (located in scenic City Park) every day for three months to record the album in completely public gallery space.  It should come as no surprise that [...]
