The Pacific Northwest Festival we've all been waiting for has just announced a killer lineup! Sasquatch takes place at the Gorge on May 25th - 28th.

The annual Sasquatch festival, definitely a festival that I need to attend in the very near future, announced a killer line up for this year's installment. Recently solo Jack White, along with Beck and Bon Iver, will be headlining the George, WA based three-day event. Also leading the way are Pretty Lights, Tenacious D, The Shins, Girl Talk, St. Vincent, Feist, and Silversun Pickups. But that's not all who you'll get to see at the Gorge Ampitheatre this year. Also performing this year are Metric, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky, The Head [...]
![[Introducing] – Old Soul](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4024266_lg.jpg)
Tweet Old Soul fall into that genre that The Civil Wars made famous in 2011, the category of country-jazz-pop that toes the line of pop, but still maintains musically integrity. Read: unlike pop, it doesn't suck, it just contains the same likeability and sugary-sweetness that many pop acts rely on solely. True to their name, however, the debut self-titled album includes old world intricacies and soulfully styled vocals that sound as though they were carried in by [...]

The Civil Wars @ Paramount Theatre - January 19 "Delicate" can be a dirty word; a few shades in the wrong direction and your sound is too quaint, or too cutesy, or too precious, or too twee, or so ethereal as to be vapor. So you have to hand it to Joy Williams and John Paul White, the singing, strumming duo that comprise The Civil Wars . They lean delicate and almost effortlessly find that sweet spot where gentle meets rich, holding steady in that spot with a combination of slightly mischievous personality, rock-solid chemistry, [...]

It's an impressive debut' Interview Magazine Fresh out of Nashville, The Civil Wars release their single 'Barton Hollow', in the UK on March 5th through Columbia Records . Their debut album, also called 'Barton Hollow' is released in the UK on the same day. The Civil Wars [...]

We told you a few weeks ago about the lovely sibling trio from the UK, The Staves . The lovely sisters just wrapped up a run of dates with The Civil Wars . Our photographer Jennifer Murtha ( FromThePhotoPit.com ) was at the Paramount Theatre in Austin to get some great shots of the band. Check them out inside and head over to thestaves.com to learn more about The Staves .
Let's have a quick chat about what's currently making my happy. 1. Knowing I get to see The Civil Wars tonight. 2. My fancy new bell-bottom jeans (12.99 thrift store find FTW). 3. Having my boss pay for lunch. 4. Waiting On An Island by Destry. Notes on #4: This sway worthy album is light-hearted [...]
Taylor Swift hints at a possible new musical direction on this collaboration with The Civil Wars on a new soundtrack.

Last night, the up and coming Joy Williams and John Paul White of the band The Civil Wars were performing to a sold-out crowd at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. Halfway through their concert, Williams jokingly introduces a guest performer who "hasn't had much time on stage" and "is really new at writing songs." And out came Taylor Swift for the first live performance of "Safe and Sound" , their collaboration for The Hunger Games soundtrack. Watch below. After the concert, Williams and White took [...]

Taylor Swift with The Civil Wars A very special guest crashed the stage at The Civil Wars concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville last night (January 12): Taylor Swift ! The country star, wearing flirty yellow dress, joined her pals Joy Williams and John Paul White of TCW to give the debut performance of their melancholy ballad, "Safe And Sound," from the soundtrack for The Hunger Games . "An unforgettable night @ TheRyman," the duo tweeted after the pretty-close-to-flawless performance. [...]

The musical evolution of U.K. sibling trio The Staves — Emily, Jessica and Camilla — has been a slow, steady process; an adventure that began in the stew of family car journeys, sing-alongs and squabbles over the stereo, and immersed in the music of artists like Feist, Fleet Foxes, Simon & Garfunkel, Buffalo Springfield, and Motown. "There was always music in the house and we always sang," Jessica remembers. "Mum and Dad weren't professional musicians or anything but they...
So I decided to create a rather unconventional music post today. Get ready to be INSPIRED. I've recently helped some friends of mine launch a clothing line called the ADAMO Collection. The whole idea behind this company is to provide a platform for rebelliously creative young people to pursue their passions, collaborate with each other, [...]

Once I rode in an airplane that left a white streak in the otherwise blank sky. We were here, it meant to say. We will always be here, it implied. When it was washed over with chemicals and disappeared, it said, we are lying. When all those particles scattered and became part of the atmosphere, it became an abstract, a ripped Kandinsky: we are everywhere. There were more people under the sky than on the plane, standing, eating, redecorating their kitchens, finding pennies on the sidewalk, crouching by dumpsters, smoking American Spirits with the [...]

If absolutely nothing else, the duo of Joy Williams and John Paul White, collectively known as the Civil Wars, have what you could call a built in audience. Following the success of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (otherwise known as the Swell Season), the market for soft-spoken, strong-willed, folk-influenced male-female duos is one that is prime for the taking. Of course, it also helps that the Civil Wars are extremely talented when it comes to their craft. With a toolkit that consist primarily of uncomplicated, stripped-down song structures and the wondrous harmonies that Williams and White, what the Civil Wars [...]

Four score and seven years ago... it was 1924. Not a particularly great year. In fact, the United States was doing some pretty shameful stuff with immigration (see Immigration Act of 1924). I suppose this is really neither here nor there. What I wanted to get at is that civil wars have never been very popular. They're divisive, destructive, and extremely violent. People generally try to avoid them whenever possible and rightfully so. Countries tend to have a higher standard of living when their citizens aren't killing each other. MP3 : [...]
Great movie, even better scene... if you haven't seen Spinal Tap then put that one at the top of your New Years Resolution's list. But as far as music goes I'd like to take a bit of time and let you guys know exactly what bands I feel "went to eleven" this year. These are [...]

Our man in England reports... Thoughts on Shows by Tom Sweeney The Staves are sisters; Camilla , Jessica and Emily , hailing from Watford, just north of London. They sing in close harmony, accompanied by Jessica's simple-but-effective Paul Simon-like fingerpicked guitar. Conveniently blessed with complementary vocal ranges, their music is [...]
