The humanitarian organization DARA issued a report Wednesday saying that 100 million people may die by 2030 as a direct result of climate change. 90% of those affected would be in third world nations; the remaining 10% are thought to be sick and elderly in places closest to the equator. CNN journalist TV personality Carol Costello had Bill Nye on her show to discuss the Colorado wildfires, specifically, and climate change, in general. At one point, Costello says: "If you Google your name, 'Bill Nye,' you're the kooky guy who doesn't know what he's talking about... You want to defend yourself?" Camels, nature's original water conservationists, may be an environmental threat in Australia. Yesterday morning Newser reported a new bill in Australia that proposes offering carbon credits to citizens who kill a camel. According to the article, camels have particularly gaseous burps, and over the course of a year can omit 100 pounds of methane, about 1/6th as much as an average car. The population of Manchester, Tennessee gets its biggest boost of the year starting this weekend as kids descend on a 700-acre farm for Bonnaroo . Quite a meeting of the musical minds went down at the National Mall this past Sunday where 150,000 people came out for a rally in support of action on climate change.
