" My Way " is the second official single off Will Saul's Close album project Getting Closer, due out June 11th on !K7 Records. If you listened carefully to Will Saul's recent Essential Mix, you may remember this track. The difference, however, is and always will be in a Dusky remix. Joe Dukie's vocals are heart-wrenching, but Dusky's instrumentation molds "My Way" into something truly haunting and beautiful. If you thought deep house couldn't get any deeper, then dive right into this deep end. The remix package will also feature cuts from Midland and Tanner Ross & Slow Hands. Look for it [...]
Slow Skies released their second EP Close last week. It's safe to say that I absolutely loved it. A three piece, Karen Sheridan, Conal Herron and Patrick O'Laoghaire have really made something special and, well, the sky's the limit. I asked Karen some questions about the band, how they got [Read more]

Close – My Way ft. Joe Dukie It’s funny how things work out sometimes. A few weeks back when I was listening to Will Saul’s Essential Mix, one song in particular stood out from the rest. I checked the tracklist and it turned out to be called ‘My Way’. After a bit of research I figured the song was unreleased because there was no trace of it anywhere. Needless to say I was pretty excited today when I found out that the track had finally seen the light of day. The single is from Will Saul’s forthcoming [...]

Will Saul 's fellow Aus Music cohorts Dusky & Midland get drafted in for remix duties on Beam Me Up's follow up, My Way. Beam Me Up dropped last month featuring remixes from Scuba, George Fitzgerald and Hercules & Love Affair. Although most reviewers plummed for the Fitzgerald remix, personally we'd recommend Hercules analog powered acidic twist. As yet there are no streams for the upcoming remixes, however if you've heard Midlands upcoming release ' Archive 01 / Real Time ' and Dusky's most recent releases ' Nobody Else ' and ' Calling Me ' you [...]

“My Way” (featuring Joe Dukie of Fat Freddies Drop) is the 2nd official single from Close’s debut album Getting Closer . “For me Joe Dukie has one of the best voices on the planet so it was a bit of dream come true to get to work with him. I worked with Fink in his studio in Brighton where we recorded his band (drummer and bass player) - the instrumental is all live and one take. We then sent this over to Dallas (Joe Dukie) and he sent back his vocals. [...]
Dublin trio Slow Skies have just unveiled their second EP Close, following up on last year's Silhouettes EP. You should probably get the box of tissues out before you press play though. There is no doubt Will Saul knows good music. He's a producer, DJ, label owner, A&R whiz, and has worked with a staggering number of impressive artists in his almost two decades in dance music. Will got his start as nothing more than a passionate record collector (like most of us), and in the years that followed grew from a job at Sony, to his own label Simple Records, and more recently Aus Music. In his own words, the intent of branching off on his own was nothing [...]

Deep House veteran DJ and labelhead, Will Saul debuted his latest effort as Close, which features the vocals of London’s Charlene Soraia and production magic from Scuba. George Fitzgerald remix of "Beam Me Up" sounds like 70s Disco/Soul with flecks of futuristic rhythms. It would seem that the majority of the tunes I have been listening to lately feature a four-to-the-floor kick drum. So if you're of the opinion that most of that "nst' nst' nst'" crap sounds the same, you should probably stop reading now and find something else to listen to... However, if you have read this far already, my guess is that you have a sense of what you're getting into and that you too will share my enthusiasm for many of these funky soulful gems. In this instalment of The Bootleg Tapes , you will hear [...]

Close's sensual production " Beam Me Up " has proven its remixability, bouncing from the hands of Scuba to George Fitzgerald to Hercules and Love Affair, but of the three house heavyweights, Andy Butler (at the helm of the Hercules project) truly made the track his own. Fitzgerald and Mr. Rose certainly graced the original melody with their own sublime skills - especially Scuba since he contributed to the production from the get go - but Butler offers the most dramatic departure from the original. He darkens up what Fitzgerald made [...]

‘Beam Me Up’ is the first single from Will Saul’s debut album under his new CLOSE alias. Entitled Getting Close , the LP will be out in June via !K7 Records. The title track is getting the remix treatment from George Fitzgerald and Hercules and Love Affair but this Scuba rework is just something else. The Hotflush boss gives it that trademark low-end treatment that we never can get sick of. The entire remix package is available on April 23 so hold tight. CLOSE - Beam Me Up ft. Charlene Soraia [...]

Scuba 's "Beam Me Up" collaboration with (the formerly anonymous) Will Saul/Close alias is a fantastic track on its own, but George Fitzgerald 's remix converts it from a slow-grinding track heavy on the atmosphere to a jumping house groover. Fitzgerald not only alters the structure of the song but also reworks Charlene Soraia's vocals in just the right way. Close's full debut LP is set for a release date in June, but this remix is out now on !K7 Records. Purchase: Beatport You just [...]
