Coldplay | The Emirates Stadium 01.06.12 It was 5 th July 2005 when this writer last saw Coldplay. The group had just released X&Y , their plodding third album and had newly graduated to a stadium act off the back of its phenomenal success. Last week the music world lost a pioneer - Adam Yauch, better known by his Beastie Boys moniker MCA, died on the 4th of May battling cancer. An outpouring of fan ( famous or not) tributes quickly ensued, including this one from Coldplay covering a Beasties classic that was a little surprising. Watch it below. Yesterday came the immensly sad news that Adam Yauch, founding member of The Beastie Boys, passed away after three year battle with cancer. A multi-talented man who was loved and respected the world over, Yauch leaves behind a wife and a daughter. The Beastie Boys have made an official statement . Tributes and condolences have been pouring in from across the globe, including musicians and fans. Earlier this week Chris Martin and chums stopped by American Idol to perform a mini-set on the US reality show. Well, they've done X Factor over here, so why not ey? Playing the three monster singles from Mylo Xyloto the performance paints the groups as exactly what they now, a true pop group. Rather bizarrely introduced by J Lo, it's a pretty sweet set. As much as American Idol sucks (if you're reading this and saying, "No! You suck," who are you kidding? Honestly?), it does have good moments here and there. Last night, during the results show was one of those good moments, as Coldplay got on stage to perform both "Paradise" and "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall." The former saw Chris Martin going solo on the piano, while the latter saw the frontman joined on stage by the rest of the band, although Chris really needs to work on his dance moves.
