Caveman's largest hometown show in New York City came tonight at Webster Hall, and it was a good one. I've seen the band at nearly everyone of their NYC shows since their 2011 CMJ set at Glasslands that made me a fan. They have not let me down yet, and they seemingly just find ways to just get stronger and stronger. They're amazing. They did a good job combining the textures and context of both their excellent debut album CoCo Beware and their newly released self-titled album, which this show [...]
![HOT CHIP SOLD OUT ROSELAND BALLROOM [PHOTOS]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4884396_lg.jpg)
Last night, Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan played host to British electronic-indie powerhouse Hot Chip who blew the roof off the massive venue. Their set was filled with a great mix of old and new (including an Egyptian-influenced track I can't wait to find on their next record) which left each and every person in the audience, including the girl below, dancing their buns off until midnight. Check out the photos I took below. Hot Chip

Iceage + Zeitgeist + Gotobeds + Nic Lawless 6119 Penn / 04.12.2013 / Doors 9:00 / $8 Words by Brendan At the ripe old age of ... ahem, 20 ... Iceage are already making some seriously choppy waves in the indie rock world. Four young punks from Copenhagen, Denmark they are, and their latest LP, You're Nothing , came out on Matador Records in February. They're making their second stop in Pittsburgh (having played The [...]

Hot Chip seem to have grown as a band exponentially every time that I see them. Not even in terms of their band member count - which has definitely grown - but in scope. The crowds and venues just keep getting bigger and bigger. This makes sense, Hot Chip have a sound that attracts all kinds of music fans. They can just as easily bring down the house with huge dance vibes as they can rock out. They even have an emotional core that can devastate you just as equally. There's not much that Hot Chip can't do. [...]

Now I can always tell my kids that I once saw Fleetwood Mac at the Garden, and that it was great. To no surprise, I was easily one of the youngest fans in attendance. You had a crowd full of truly appreciate fans who truly loved Fleetwood Mac spanning more years of concert experience than I can even imagine. The show started at 8:20 and went well on until about 10:30, no openers, no bullshit. Just two solid hours of Fleetwood Mac. This lineup of Fleetwood Mac featured Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, John McVie, and Mick [...]

TEEPEE + Low Man + Nox Boys / Mr Roboto Project 04.10.2013 / Doors 7:00 / $6 presented by DUL + Monalloh Foundry Words by Brendan There's no shortage of extremely talented bands out there in the world, and I'm always grateful when they find their way to my ears. I got an email from TEEPEE a while back looking to fit Pittsburgh in their tour schedule. So, I clicked a link, streamed some songs [...]

“ We ain’t no f*cking B-town band! ” So began The Scribers’ set at the O2 Academy in Birmingham on Friday night. The gig, put on by city-based magazine Brum Notes and local label One Beat Records saw some of the place’s finest bands perform before an adoring audience, and whilst the team spirit might not have been in play from the start, it was with a feeling of connection that everyone piled out of the venue. The task of opening the night was designated to The Scribers, and they did so in the way that only they [...]

Telford's The Making are a great example of a kick-ass indie rock band. Their music holds loud, distorted guitars, which mingle with nice hints of electronica. It's a wicked sound. So check out AMBY's interview with the band, where we talk lyrics they love, the Birmingham music scene, and a secret about their practice room! AMBY: Hey The Making! How would you describe your sound to those unfamiliar with your music? The Making: We've moved away from our Arctic Monkeys-esque Indie-Punk with our latest material, moving more towards grunge-laced indie [...]

Caitlin Dean for Middle of the Map (c/o Ink Magazine) and Midcoast Station 75 and sunny with fluffy clouds sailing lackadaisically across an azure sky. An all-access wristband, my trusty Moleskine in my bag, and a thirst to be satisfied only with some Jameson neat. My kind of wonderful. This is my Middle of the Map . I spent Saturday traipsing Westport with near and dear friends, my only instructions to experience the buzz of the festival and later, bring it to life for readers. I obliged. MOTM swept me off my feet, [...]

The funky, talented Nick Waterhouse played a sold out Mercury Lounge in Manhattan this past Sunday and I lucky enough to snag a spot on the list and take some photos. The Los Angeles based jazzy soul singer is getting bigger and bigger each month and deservingly so. Make sure you check him out if he's coming to your city , but for now, take a quick look at the photos I shot. Nick Waterhouse

Frank Yang If you want to be technical about it, territories and their associated release dates being what they are, Jessie Ware doesn't actually have any music released in North America besides the If You're Never Gonna Move EP, but if you think she sold out The Opera House on Saturday night on the back of that... Well it'd have been plausible, since it cherry picks three superb cuts from her debut Devotion , plus a cover and a remix, but in reality the massive [...]
Photos by Rachel Barrish | raddrhapsodies.com Scottish indie rockers Frightened Rabbit headlined a sold-out Union Transfer on Saturday night, touring in support of their new LP Pedestrian Verse. With an impressive light show and an interactive rapport with the crowd (singer-guitarist Scott Hutchison asked the crowd to hold a G note en masse as they ... Continue reading

I will admit to not being overly familiar with Caitlin Rose 's material before her show at The Garrison this past Friday night, but I liked what I had heard from her and after seeing her live, I was converted to a fan. The Nashville-based, Dallas-born country singer is a charming and totally assured performer and the songs from her latest, The Stand-In , are quite catchy. And her stage banter, while a little hit and miss at the beginning of her set, was often quite humorous. "This is a pop song, I think. I've never [...]

Frank Yang Though I'm probably a bit late to the Caitlin Rose party, her 2010 full-length debut Own Side Now having completely flown under my radar, I'm thankful that I was able to get it into my ears earlier this year before her follow-up The Stand-In came out because it gave me a reference point to appreciate just how good The Stand-In is. Which is not to say that there's anything wrong with Own Side Now at all - it's [...]

Yeah Yeah Yeahs show at Webster Hall was everything that a rock show should be for a band of their stature. They packed in the venue and made it seem far too small for a band of their epic caliber. The mid-sized venue was a perfect choice to host an intimate (for them) night of celebration for the release of their brand new album Mosquito . The night was more like a homecoming celebration of the New York City band's incredible career, a full fledged salute to their fans who have watched them grow to incredible [...]

Prior to Flosstradamus' Friday night performance, the duo sent out 92 powerful characters across the Twitterverse: "BAHAHA S/O THE # VERYcool ASS DJS OUT THERE PREACHING ABOUT HOW 'TRAP IS DEAD.' LOL GTFO BRUH". Following the duo's cramped Ultra Music Festival sets, at which even AVICII managed to drop a little trap during his Mainstage appearance, there is little doubt the genre is surging. But as Flosstradamus's appearance at Cleveland attests, trap is experiencing some growing pains as its hi-hat rolls and snare drum syncopation push further into posh nightclubs. [...]

When I was a 16 year old hot off my discovery of Arctic Monkeys, I was a bit naive in my belief in the NME and any band that they would get behind. I remember them hailing a band called The View as one of the next hot bands, and it came true as they went #1 in their native UK seemingly out of nowhere. Now, often with NME buzz bands there is natural backlash, the sort thing that can almost ironically stunt a bands growth after the quick fire promotion. This seemed to happen to the View [...]

Of course you want to see a free Phoenix show at a mid-sized venue for free on a Friday. Ignore the show’s 6 p.m start-time and New York City’s first truly pleasant day of the year outside the pitch-blackness of Music Hall of Williamsburg. Never mind that maybe you have a regular job and couldn’t get in line this morning to secure a wristband to be handed a laminated, Special Guest badge that would hang from a lanyard around your neck at this SiriusXM-sponsored show. Scrap the idea that this set tagged along to the alt-pop-guitar-dance rockers’ performance [...]

Kodaline Brudenell Social Club Leeds 30/03/13 If I had to pick just one band to watch for the rest of year right now I'd quite happily choose Kodaline . So far I've already attended some pretty spectacular gigs Miles Kane at Wrexham’s intimate Central Station , The Enemy three times in the short space of a month and Kasabian at The Royal Albert Hall just to name, but a few and already Kodaline are big contenders for my favourite gig of the [...]
San Bernardino’s San Manuel Amphitheatre welcomed a successful staging of 2013’s Paid Dues independent hip hop festival. This year did not disappoint. The line up was scintillating, offering class acts on all three stages, making it a difficult choice for ... Continued
