Lucifer Youth Foundation which actually means hipster jihad. While this whole "revolution in the disguise of a band idea" is obviously intriguing, WU LYF's battle cry is entirely incomprehensible. All of the tracks above are featured on their upcoming full length LP, [...]

Theses days, taking a punt on the well-worn marketing move, where you take a less-is-more attitude to what you allow the public to know and see of your new band, is nothing short of fucking boring. It's more reactionary, rather than revolutionary, seeming as it does to kick against the over-saturation of any subject the Internet chews up and spits out. Blame the bloggers and their insatiable appetite, blame the social networks and their tiny attention spans. Blame what you like, it's very over-cooked and if you are going to try and drip feed us with miniature snippets of confusing [...]
"Dear lord God: thank you very much for bringing the following songs to my attention. They're the fucking bomb! Amen, Richard." Wu Lyf - Concrete Gold ( mp3 ) This song by the secretive Manchester sextet/dectet surprises me every time, even when I've listened to it five minutes ago. The crackly voice, the mournful tone, the sudden histrionics, the subterranean feel, the little-boy-lost lyrics, the gorgeous electro, the impossibly huge pause in the middle, the perky outro... it's just unique. And that, in today's world of musical diversity, is amazing and really exciting. [...]

WU LYF. For a band this young, they certainly shouldn’t be so good. But, then, they are just a talented band. Forget the hype, the hilariously epic investigations, rumours, and conspiracy stories that have recently been running on blogs of a depth that would shame M15. I’ve done it myself, been drawn into it all, and found myself here. They’re just a band, a band of young people from Manchester, some of whom are tortured, anguished, eccentric, all of whom are artistic, and others who may be druggies, wasters, the pained and romantic. But then, they [...]

A gremlin stuck, holding on tight to the axel rod on the trailer, heading upstate. In my mind’s eye, this depiction is the mutant undercarriage of that earnest escapist bandwagon eagerly piloted by Springsteen and recent incumbents of his 'crown'; hero of the downtrodden. Holding on for dear life would be an exaggeration, when life isn’t something held dear. Overwhelming, overwhelmed and all crumpled, WU LYF sail so close to the brink with such fervour, it gets hard to make out where the brink even is. After three minutes [...]
