Atomic, When Saints Go Machine.

There's an inimitable off-kilt pop dexterity to all that Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild's  When Saints Go Machine contrive to fabric, and no longer is Iodine merely 'a chemical element with symbol I and atomic number 532 but instead also a massive splash from the Danes' forthcoming third,  Infinity Pool . It's a record which, released in conjunction with EMI, may see the Scandinavian eccentrics enter into a more widespread cognisance and along with the Killer Mike-featuring Love And Respect , Iodine is an incontrovertible highlight that serves as a nebulous billow of avant-garde suavity pumped out of the experimental [...]

Eksklusiv Premiere: The Divers — The Beach (video)

Interview: Broken Twin – “Hope, it means everything”

BROKEN TWIN captured our hearts with the minimalist piano ballad “Out of Air,” a track off her “Hold on to Nothing” EP.  The soundtrack to all you did not do, Majke Voss Romme has a haunting voice that is trembling and throaty, over painfully wistful piano.  It's the most stripped out and bare kind of The post Interview: Broken Twin - "Hope, it means everything" appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .

Lower – “Another Life”

Lower – “Another Life” Danish post-punk band Lower has dropped a new track in promotion of some North American tour dates that they have pasted onto the cover art for this song. Observe: "Another Life" features some intensely busy drums, noisy guitars, and some really bitter vocals. The end result is enough to have me psyched for the band's debut full-length. On the Horizon: Anotherworldly, DISA.

Think of an Icelandic lady. Hold her frozen in thought a moment, clench her tight, and ceremoniously throw her to the fires of disinterest, for as long as Ms. Guðmundsdóttir flatters to deceive with multimedial nonsenses in place of musical prowess, the door is open for the inscrutable North Atlantic islet to spew forth another starlet. And only time will tell if that may yet be Reykjavik's Disa Jakobs, who is henceforth artistically recognised as DISA though that which becomes immediately apparent is that Jakobs is a talent aflame with fascination. She is, akin to her native realm, 'cold yet compelling' [...]

NBHAP Guestmix #16: Bottled In England

While the world is experiencing the first actual quite lovely and sunny weeks of spring, it looks like Copenhagen-based duo BOTTLED IN ENGLAND is not really in the mood for gentle flowers and tender bird singing - they prefer it a bit darker and dystopian as they call their exclusive guestmix for NBHAP their very own The post NBHAP Guestmix #16: Bottled In England appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .

Halasan Bazar Mixtape

Halasan Bazar Mixtape Tweet Here’s what lead vocalist for Halasan Bazar, Fredrik Rollum Eckhoff had to say about the mix: "I built this hazy mix of organ instrumentals & twangy guitar around the soundtrack for Valeries Week of Wonders, an old weird eastern European psychedelic film. It´s pretty much a homage to Broadcast and their vision, but merged with my own twisted Nordic take on psychedelia, with swedish cosmic organ kings Bo Hannson & Eric Malmberg & the new twang pop of White Fence, Woods & MGMT. Strangely it all blends [...]

Iceage / LIVE

Iceage / LIVE Iceage + Zeitgeist + Gotobeds + Nic Lawless 6119 Penn / 04.12.2013 / Doors 9:00 / $8 Words by Brendan At the ripe old age of ... ahem, 20 ... Iceage are already making some seriously choppy waves in the indie rock world. Iceage – “Morals” from Copenhagen

Iceage - "Morals" from Copenhagen
Danish punk, post-punk, and noise rock act Iceage releases a session performance of one of my favorite tracks from their latest album, You're Nothing . Morals" is one of the most ballad-like tracks on the album, and it's the beautiful piano chords and steady march of the beat that help make it so. This session performance of the track is both fierce and passionate, and brings a little more intensity than the album version, I think. Check a review of You're Nothing below:

INTERVIEW: Iceage: "Sometimes it’s a big release and I can kind of lose myself and not really know who I am anymore, it’s a kind of feeling of ecstasy."

INTERVIEW: Iceage: "Sometimes it’s a big release and I can kind of lose myself and not really know who I am anymore, it’s a kind of feeling of ecstasy." When it comes to bands, the ones that are a bit sheltered often end up coming off as the most genuine. Such is the case with Copenhagen punk band  Iceage . The band have just released their second full-length album  You’re Nothing  on Matador – an album which does more than just give the finger to authority, it tells a story – a very relatable story. Instead of building a narrative around characters, vocalist Elias Rønnenfelt’s hard pressed lips breathe raspy poems into the microphone with the few audible words that we can make out seeming to be [...]

On the Horizon: Bluming Brilliant, Blaue Blume.

Cue the inexorable comparisons to the acrobatic vocal capacities of a certain Hayden Thorpe, though this one from Copenhagen's Blaue Blume has plenty more elegiac spring in its sprightly step than the entirety of Wild Beasts' discography combined. Entitled On New Years Eve, its four and a half pertain to that wistful bit tacked onto the end of each and every year without fail at which you lament all that wasn't to be. Yesterday, what was to be was a preliminary glimpse into When Saints Go Machine's forthcoming third full-length, Infinity Pool – an outré collaboration [...]

Efterklang @ Bowery Ballroom, NYC 3/23/13

Efterklang have all the necessary ingredients for a blurry, captivating dreamscape, and we only wish they could soundtrack ours.

Killer, When Saints Go Machine.

When Saints Go Machine - Love And Respect ft. Killer Mike
Boundary-obliterating Copenhagen  quirk-pop ensemble  When Saints Go Machine are, to my ears if no others, just about the most invigorating avant-garde outfit out there. I mean people claim creationism to be dead and buried, and for genuine originality to be a thing of the past though honestly? Nobody operating contemporarily sounds a fucking thing like Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild's ceaselessly inspirational, and continually indescribable four-piece. Singularity is of course one thing, though when it's so frequently purveyed with such unerring sublimity, well, for fear of drifting off into an intensely exaggerated land of no return, I'll stop short of proclaiming [...]
