Britain-based indie rock vets Cornershop were never really a band noted for their political activism, but on the 60th anniversary of the invasion of Tibet by the People's Liberation Army, Tjinder Singh and company have made a stand in the cause for justice and freedom in the Asian region. To help the cause, the band has partnered with Free Tibet to create a video for "Don't Shake It (Let It Free)," the closing track and latest single from 20112s Cornershop and the Double-O Groove Of , which enlisted the help of Punjabi newcomer [...]

Italian sound stacker Casa del Mirto made an effort to remix "Non Stop Radio" by London's Cornershop and Celeste. I must say he managed to do it very well. The video was also edited by its original creators Rocket Science. The remix is a part of " The Italian Job Remixes " with works by Casa del Mirto himself, Lorenzo Marinelli and Lorenzo Venturini. As Cornershop describes it, "it's for those of you who would like to end the night next to a pool and parma trees." More Casa del Mirto? Check [...]
While Cornershop 's monthly Singles Club is still going strong (head here to get the latest single or anything you've missed), today the UK indie-rock outfit premieres the video for Casa Del Mirto's remix of their single "Non-Stop Radio". Along with the track getting a new interpretation, the production company behind the original video , Rocket Science, also remixed the visuals. The end result is more of the same wacky, wonderful collection of moving pictures, a blast of neon-colored psychedelic freakiness to make the rest of the week pass by in a shiny [...]

Indo-British rockers Cornershop have been busy touring, collaborating with new talent and reinventing their sound in general. Last month, we reviewed the first of their Singhles Club releases ( buy here ), the Royksopp-esque 'Non-Stop Radio' . Currently showcasing their new material across the UK, frontman Tjinder Singh took time off to answer a few questions via email. How did the tour coming along? We played a select amount of gigs, but as we sound so different to other groups, especially the groups, we are afforded even more appreciation, so were very [...]
The somewhat unknown summer festival of Wychwood is now into its 6th year and has hosted the likes of the Levellers , Super Furry Animals and Divine Comedy since starting in 2005. Held at Cheltenham racecourse amidst the beautiful English countryside, their is something quintessentially British about the whole weekend. Whether it's the two red double decker buses which serve Pimm's and tea or the complaints about the ever-changing weather, it's definitely one for us Brits. Despite there being two bigger stages at Wychwood, a lot of [...]
The dark treatment of the "My Name Is Trouble" is countered with this all-white video for the second single from Keren Ann's album 101 . "Sugar Mama" is one of the stronger tracks on the disc. Although we would have opted for "All The Beautiful Girls," we are keeping our hopes high for a third single release. Cornershop disappeared there for a while in the mid 2000s, but Tjinder Singh and friends seem to be back, having released two albums over the past year and now starting a series of one-sided releases. The Singhles Club is a subscription series consisting of six songs that will be available from Cornershop's website. To sign [...]
Indo-British indie rockers Cornershop have been doling out some interesting new music post founding their own label, Ample Play. Earlier this year, the band released a Pledgemusic -funded collaboration with previously unrecorded Punjabi singer Bubbly Kaur titled Cornershop and the Double 'O' Groove Of... , an indie rock/trip-hop amalgamate sung entirely in Punjabi. The band has promised members some exclusive printable artwork to go with these one-side sing(h)les. The first track of the series, titled [...]

Though the series does not officially start until later this month, the first single "Non-Stop Radio" is available below in video form. [...]

There's a growing number of 'smaller' festivals in the UK, some showcasing new bands you've never heard of and some playing host to the golden oldies. Wychwood Festival tries to find the middle ground between rock 'n' roll royalty and hotly tipped underground talent. Held at Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire, Wychwood Festival brings three days of entertainment across the 3-5 June weekend. Headlining the extravaganza are britpop extraordinaires the Charlatans (pictured above), the Scottish and Irish rockers the Waterboys and [...]
