Enjoy Kapowski and their weird futuristic (?) video and other videos by the Cheeks and their 602s inspired sounds, the British Correspondents, who feel like they're cheating just because their girlfriend changed her look, my beloved Tindersticks and their melancholic melodies and Gerard Love's of the Teenage Fanclub solo project Lightships. You can also download for free Troumaca's afro and [...]

Buckle up, kids, it's about to get weird. RubiCANE is the newest project from painter and singer (and one half of the Correspondents ) Ian Bruce. It's an artistic and poetic exploration of the sexual, with the self-professed aim of exposing the "different tastes and desires that pornography caters for". We sat down with Ian and got our hands on SOUVENIR, the limited edition book around which the project revolves, and which is the focus of a new exhibition at The Society Club in Soho. Be warned – what follows is not for prudish eyes. The [...]

This past Monday, " Cheating With You ", the new single from London electro-swank duo The Correspondents dropped, which came with remixes from The Wild Knights, Benji Boko, in addtion to one from the quieter half of the duo, Chucks. Since the two of them are generous folks, Chucks has offered up his remix as a free download. The remix really speaks to his excellent beat making abilities. Make sure you grabe " Cheating With You " if you haven't already.

We briefly mentioned The Correspondents in our Secret Garden Party review earlier this year. Mixing a unique live show with an eclectic range of musical styles, the swing/hip-hop/drum and bass/dubstep/jazz/electro duo quite easily qualify as ones to watch for 2012. CitR: How did you begin as an act? Chucks: I was producing some jazzy hip-hop at university, and Bruce was MCing and hosting club nights up in Edinburgh. Mr. Bruce: And after uni we got back to London and started [...]
December 2011 sees the release of our first single, 'Cheating With You'; a twisted love song carried on the back of a growling electro beast which explores a new sound for The Correspondents. Road tested at all the major festivals this year, Cheating With You is already a firm favourite with thousands of fans. Available to download from iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/alb um/cheating-with-you-ep/id4782 84644 http://www.thecorrespondents.c o.uk The music video that accompanies 'Cheating With You' depicts the evolution of a relationship [...]
the CORRESPONDENTS ' he-singer is rocking those sharp moves as he sings about CHEATING WITH YOU . give it two listens and you'll be feeling this .. wotyougot
With their single dropping on December 13th, London duo The Correspondents have unveiled the video for their single, "Cheating With You", a story of singer Mr. Bruce desperately trying to keep up with his ever sophisticated and domineering partner (who is played by Agent Lynch). This gorgeous video was produced and directed by Henry YP Ho and his team at monKIKI . I have to say, Mr. Bruce is quite the character. Within moments of the video starting if his voice doesn't suck you in immediately then his powerful performance will. The duo [...]

RAP BOY RAP !!!! In 1982, I bought my weekly fix of music news, the NME, where, in the days before the internet, is where everyone got their music information. The New Musical Express music weekly has been around since 1952 and at its peak would sell 300,000 copies per week. The mid70's would have been when I started buying the NME; it was around the start of the punk explosion. The writers of the day were the likes of Tony Parsons, Julie Burchill, Charles Shaar Murray and Nick Kent. [...]

HIGH ANXIETY..... I was listening to an interview, this morning on the radio, with former Liverpool and Aston Villa manager Gerard Houllier. He talked of the stress and pressure of the job that caused him to quit his position because of heart trouble. It got me thinking about the musical artists that I know that have found that stress, anxiety and stage fright that has caused them to stop performing live and touring. One of the first pieces I wrote for JC told of the problems that XTC's [...]

SUNSET NOW....... So it was always Bob Last's idea to have Martin Ware set up a production company and to that end B.E.F (British Electric Foundation) were formed. B.E.F first release was a 'cassette only' release of instrumentals, called 'Music for Stowaways'; so named as it was inspired by Sony's first appearance of theWalkman, which was originally marketed in the UK as the Sony Stowaway. With their second release 'Music of Quality and Distinction Volume One'; Martin Ware and Iain Craig Marsh had a chance to work with [...]

WHO'LL STOP THE RAIN……… I travelled home from work on dark and damp evening in February 2010 feeling as miserable as the weather, until I changed and put on the TV. It was a Sunday evening and I switched on BBC1, to be greeted by Aled Jones presenting Songs of Praise, I didn't want to watch that, but I needed to be on that station and press the red button to find out the football results….. …. before I got the [...]

Some Fantastic Place On Friday 6th August 2010 JC wrote a piece on the Dundee band The View's single Superstar Tradesman and included in the article was a track which was in my opinion the worst ever cover version I've ever heard…. Up the Junction taken from their Zane Lowe Radio One show session. Squeeze have been a favourite of mine for too many years to accept the minky Dundonians version [...]

On a night when flowers didn't suit my shoes…… They took their name from the recreational drug of choice for the Northern Soul fans at the time of their formation, Dexedrine, a brand of dextroamphetamine, the "midnight runners" refers to ability to dance all-night after taking said drug !! Formed in Birmingham by Kevin Rowlan d and [...]

So, we're half way through August already! Wow... WTF 2011!? You've flown by way too fast! Now I'm guessing here, but I reckon you'll be wanting to do something special to celebrate the last bank holiday of the year before Christmas, amirite? If I am, (and I think I might be) then I suggest you continue reading... After the massive success that was The Book Club 's royal wedding street party back in May, which saw 5000 party people descend on Leonard street for one hell of a knees up, they'll be closing off the road once [...]

Lighten Up Morrissey !!!! At Christmas 1974, I was given a cassette player and along with that, I was given the cassette version of the album everyone wanted that year, Propaganda by Sparks . Sparks had earlier that year in May broken into the UK single charts with This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us and followed that [...]

Back in April this year the world of Scottish music lost one it's unsung heroes to cancer. David Band, who designed record sleeves for Altered Images, Aztec Camera and Spandau Ballet died aged 51. All of the early singles by Altered Images including Dead Pop Stars, I Could Be Happy as well as the album cover for Happy Birthday all had David's distinctive paintings on their sleeves. Clare Grogan recently described him as being the closest thing to a brother she ever had and a real member of the Altered Images family. Roddy Frame asked Band [...]

I received a really nice e-mail the other day, and its author has very kindly allowed me to use its contents as the basis for a guest post:- Your post on Temptation just thrilled me because it's my favorite New Order song of all time and I had never heard the 98 version or the live one you posted. Awesome. Thank you so much. [...]

Webbie from Football and Music was the bloke who got so many of us involved in keepingitpeelday back in last October. We had a wee exchange of emails afterwards - I congratulated him on what he achieved and he, among other things, said that he hoped I would do a posting on Kitchens Of Distinction . His reason being "I was listening to Drive That Fast. What an epic song and a beautiful noise. I said yes of [...]
